On the Optimal Estimates and Comparison of Gegenbauer Expansion Coefficients [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 2016
In this paper, we study optimal estimates and comparison of the coefficients in the Gegenbauer series expansion. We propose an alternative derivation of the contour integral representation of the Gegenbauer expansion coefficients which was recently derived by Cantero and Iserles [SIAM J. Numer. Anal., 50 (2012), pp.307-327].

Time–Optimal Control of Linear Fractional Systems with Variable Coefficients

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, 2021
Linear systems described by fractional differential equations (FDEs) with variable coefficients involving Riemann–Liouville and Caputo derivatives are examined in the paper.

Optimal quadrature formulas in the space W2(m,m−1) of periodic functions

open access: yesVestnik KRAUNC: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2022
This paper is devoted to the process of finding the upper bound for the absolute error of the optimal quadrature formula in the space W2(m,m−1) of real-valued, periodic functions. For this the extremal function of the quadrature formula is used.

Construction of optimal interpolation formula exact for trigonometric functions by Sobolev’s method

open access: yesVestnik KRAUNC: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2022
The paper is devoted to derivation of the optimal interpolation formula in W2(0,2)(0,1) Hilbert space by Sobolev’s method. Here the interpolation formula consists of a linear combination   ΣNβ=0Cβφ(xβ) of the given values of a function φ from the space ...

Wavelet coefficient computation with optimal prefiltering [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 1994
Discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is often used to approximate wavelet series transform (WST) and continuous wavelet transform (CWT), since it can be computed numerically. In this research, we first study the accuracy of the computed DWT coefficients obtained from the Shensa (see ibid., vol.40, no.10, p.2464-2482, 1992) algorithm as an approximate of ...

A BETA‐OPTIMAL TEST OF THE EQUICORRELATION COEFFICIENT [PDF]

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Statistics, 1990
SummaryThis paper considers the problem of testing for nonzero values of the equicorrelation coefficient of a standard symmetric multivariate normal distribution. Recently, SenGupta (1987) proposed a locally best test. We construct a beta‐optimal test and present selected one and five percent critical values. An empirical power comparison of SenGupta's

Optimal quadrature formulas for oscillatory integrals in the Sobolev space

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2022
This work studies the problem of construction of optimal quadrature formulas in the sense of Sard in the space L 2 ( m ) ( 0 , 1 ) $L_{2}^{(m)}(0,1)$ for numerical calculation of Fourier coefficients. Using Sobolev’s method, we obtain new sine and cosine

An Optimal Choice of Profile Shift Coefficients for Spur Gears

open access: yesMachines, 2021
Methods used earlier for choosing profile shift coefficients were based on presumed advantages without physical proof justifying them. In this paper, a new method is proposed which guarantees a positive influence on gear failures and the operational ...

On optimality conditions for optimal control problem in coefficients for Δ p -Laplacian [PDF]

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2014
The considered optimal control problem involves the minimization of a functional describing the discrepancy between the solution \(y\) of a nonlinear Dirichlet boundary value problem for the equation in the \(p\)-Laplacian \(\Delta_p(u,y)=f\) and \(y_d\), which is a given distribution. In this equation, \(u\) means the control and belongs to a class of
