Optimal genetic contribution selection in Danish Holstein depends on pedigree quality

Livestock Science, 2008
Abstract The aim of this study was to assess the importance of pedigree depth when performing optimal contribution selection as implemented in the software program EVA. This was done by applying optimal genetic contribution in the breeding program of the major Danish Dairy breed Danish Holstein.

Thymoproteasome optimizes positive selection of CD8+ T cells without contribution of negative selection

2021
Functionally competent and self-tolerant T cell repertoire is shaped through positive and negative selection in the cortical and medullary microenvironments of the thymus. The thymoproteasome specifically expressed in the cortical thymic epithelium is essential for the optimal generation of CD8+ T cells.

Optimal contribution selection applied to the Norwegian and the North-Swedish cold-blooded trotter - a feasibility study.

Journal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, 2013
SummaryThe aim of this study was to examine how to apply optimal contribution selection (OCS) in the Norwegian and the North‐Swedish cold‐blooded trotter and give practical recommendations for the future. OCS was implemented using the software Gencont with overlapping generations and selected a few, but young sires, as these turn over the generations ...

Feature selection using forest optimization algorithm based on contribution degree

Intelligent Data Analysis, 2018
As a combinatorial optimization problem, feature selection has been widely used in machine learning and data mining. In this paper, a feature selection method using forest optimization algorithm based on contribution degree is proposed. The proposed method uses a contribution degree strategy which is embedded in forest optimization algorithm.

AdaFL: Adaptive Client Selection and Dynamic Contribution Evaluation for Efficient Federated Learning

IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing
Federated learning is a collaborative machine learning framework where multiple clients jointly train a global model. To mitigate communication overhead, it is common to select a subset of clients for participation in each training round.

An algorithm to compute optimal genetic contributions in selection programs with large numbers of candidates

Journal of Animal Science, 2006
A novel algorithm, OCSELECT, is presented for the calculation of optimal genetic contributions with a restricted rate of inbreeding when the number of selection candidates is very large. The calculation of optimal genetic contributions requires the relationship matrix between the candidates and its inverse.
