Optimal control in pandemics [PDF]
During a pandemic, there are conflicting demands arising from public health and economic cost. Lockdowns are a common way of containing infections, but they adversely affect the economy. We study the question of how to minimise the economic damage of a lockdown while still containing infections.

Optimally Controlling an Epidemic [PDF]
We propose a exible model of infectious dynamics with a single endogenous state variable and economic choices. We characterize equilibrium, optimal outcomes, static and dynamic externalities, and prove the following: (i) A lockdown generically is followed by policies to stimulate activity.

ON OPTIMALITY OF SINGULAR CONTROLS IN AN OPTIMAL CONTROL PROBLEM [PDF]
Summary: In this paper, a Moskalenko type optimal control problem is considered. We consider the optimal control problem of minimizing the terminal type functional \[\text{S(u,v)}=\varphi(y(x_1))+\int_{x_0}^{x_1}G(x,z(t_1,x))\,dx,\] under constraints \[ u(t,x)\in U\subset R^r, \quad (t,x)\in D=[t_0,t_1]\times[x_0,x_1], \] \[ v(x)\in V\subset R^q,\quad ...

Prioritized optimal control [PDF]
This paper presents a new technique to control highly redundant mechanical systems, such as humanoid robots. We take inspiration from two approaches. Prioritized control is a widespread multi-task technique in robotics and animation: tasks have strict priorities and they are satisfied only as long as they do not conflict with any higher-priority task ...

Optimal control and inverse optimal control by distribution matching [PDF]
Optimal control is a powerful approach to achieve optimal behavior. However, it typically requires a manual specification of a cost function which often contains several objectives, such as reaching goal positions at different time steps or energy efficiency.

Locally optimal controllers and globally inverse optimal controllers [PDF]
In this paper we consider the problem of global asymptotic stabilization with prescribed local behavior. We show that this problem can be formulated in terms of control Lyapunov functions. Moreover, we show that if the local control law has been synthesized employing a LQ approach, then the associated Lyapunov function can be seen as the value function

Optimal Control of Manipulator
When solving the problem of optimal performance for manipulative robots, the scientific team headed by F. L. Chernousko actively uses the Pontryagin maximum principle. The application of the maximum principle is complicated by the nonlinearities of controlled systems of manipulation robots.

Evolution of a geometric constant along the Ricci flow
In this paper, we establish the first variation formula of the lowest constant λ a b ( g ) $\lambda_{a}^{b}(g)$ along the Ricci flow and the normalized Ricci flow, such that to the following nonlinear equation there exist positive solutions: − Δ u + a u ...
