Ricci solitons on almost Kenmotsu 3-manifolds

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2017
Let (M3, g) be an almost Kenmotsu 3-manifold such that the Reeb vector field is an eigenvector field of the Ricci operator. In this paper, we prove that if g represents a Ricci soliton whose potential vector field is orthogonal to the Reeb vector field ...

Distributed Switched Optimal Control of an Electric Vehicle

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Distributed control is investigated to solve an electric vehicle switched optimal control problem faster than centralized control without significant performance change.

Unraveling Mycobacterium tuberculosis acid resistance and pH homeostasis mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mycobacterium tuberculosis exhibits a remarkable resilience to acid stress. In this Review, we discuss some of the molecular mechanisms and metabolic pathways used by the tubercle bacilli to adapt and resist host‐mediated acid stress. Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is a successful pathogen that has developed a variety of strategies to survive and ...

A class of 3-dimensional almost Kenmotsu manifolds with harmonic curvature tensors

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2016
Let M3 be a three-dimensional almost Kenmotsu manifold satisfying ▽ξh = 0. In this paper, we prove that the curvature tensor of M3 is harmonic if and only if M3 is locally isometric to either the hyperbolic space ℍ3(-1) or the Riemannian product ℍ2(−4) ×

Tractable Dual Optimal Stochastic Model Predictive Control: An Example in Healthcare [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Output-Feedback Stochastic Model Predictive Control based on Stochastic Optimal Control for nonlinear systems is computationally intractable because of the need to solve a Finite Horizon Stochastic Optimal Control Problem. However, solving this problem leads to an optimal probing nature of the resulting control law, called dual control, which trades ...

Optimal Control

open access: yes, 2004
Frequently, the engineer in charge of a process is faced with optimization problems. In fact, this may cover relatively different ideas, such as parameter identification or process optimization. It is known that the reactive feed flow rate profile for a fed-batch reactor and the temperature or pressure profile to be followed for a batch reactor, will ...

Deception in Optimal Control [PDF]

open access: yes2018 56th Annual Allerton Conference on Communication, Control, and Computing (Allerton), 2018
In this paper, we consider an adversarial scenario where one agent seeks to achieve an objective and its adversary seeks to learn the agent's intentions and prevent the agent from achieving its objective. The agent has an incentive to try to deceive the adversary about its intentions, while at the same time working to achieve its objective. The primary

The solution supramolecular structure of α2 → 8 polysialic acid suggests a structural cause for its low immunogenicity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
α2 → 8 polysialic acid elicits poor immunogenicity. Small‐angle scattering shows a supramolecular structure with parallel‐chain binding, although in different forms at μm and mm calcium. The major histocompatibility complex requires molecular weights around 2000 Da to produce antibodies, and 2000 Da polysialic oligomers will bind in these structures ...

Symbolic Optimal Control [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2019
We present novel results on the solution of a class of leavable, undiscounted optimal control problems in the minimax sense for nonlinear, continuous-state, discrete-time plants. The problem class includes entry-(exit-)time problems as well as minimum time, pursuit-evasion and reach-avoid games as special cases.

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.
