Optimizing Ballistic Imaging Operations
Journal of Forensic Sciences, 2017AbstractBallistic imaging systems can help solve crimes by comparing images of cartridge cases, which are recovered from a crime scene or testāfired from a gun, to a database of images obtained from past crime scenes. Many U.S. municipalities lack the resources to process all of their cartridge cases.

Optimizing Operating Room Scheduling
Anesthesiology Clinics, 2015This article reviews the management of an operating room (OR) schedule and use of the schedule to add value to an organization. We review the methodology of an OR block schedule, daily OR schedule management, and post anesthesia care unit patient flow.

Optimizing Operator/Contractor Relationships,
Proceedings of SPE/IADC Drilling Conference, 1989Abstract The paper that we wish to present concerns operator/contractor relationships. Specifically it will define the proper attitudes of both parties towards communications, bidding procedures, pre-spud conferences, contract per-formance, billing procedures and contract eval-uation.

Optimally isotropic Laplacian operator
IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 1999Laplacian operators used in the literature for digital image processing are not rotationally invariant. We examine the anisotropy of 3 x 3 Laplacian operators for images quantized in square pixels, and find the operator which has the minimum overall anisotropy.

Global optimizationāpreserving operators
Kybernetes, 2003In this paper, some kinds of operators, defined on a class of real functions depending on a single real variable, preserving some fundamental properties for solving global optimization problems are introduced. These operators allow the transfer of the search of the global extremum of a determined objective function, f into those of its transformed ...

For many reasons, including growth, increasing environmental awareness, and mounting local, state, and federal regulations, managing a water system has become more complex. Having the right tools is essential to properly managing a water system in this environment. An operations optimization system is such a tool that offers water utilities a strategic

Optimal Sorting in Industrial Operations
Management Science, 1971A theorem is developed which reduces to manageable proportions a linear programming problem of potentially infinite size. A converging iterative procedure is presented for estimating the parameters to be used in combining the activities of the original large problem.

Operating Room Fires: Optimizing Safety
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 2007This prospective study was undertaken to determine the safest means of supplemental oxygen delivery for patients undergoing facial cosmetic surgery under conscious sedation. Two common methods of oxygen delivery were used in 20 patients: (1) a nasal cannula and (2) a red rubber nasopharyngeal tube through which the cut ends of the nasal cannula were ...
