A visualization method for operating optimization
Computers & Chemical Engineering, 2007This paper proposes a visualization method for finding the optimal operating region and a near-optimal operating point based on process data. The basic principle behind the method is to map data in multi-dimensional space to a two-dimensional plane, and to generate simultaneously the contours of the objective function or functions with a mapping model.

Optimal operations for visual categorization
Proceedings of the Second International Conference on Internet Multimedia Computing and Service, 2010Bag-of-words is the state-of-the-art method used in visual categorization. The performance of visual categorization depends on four main operations: the detection of interest point, the description of interest point, the design of classifier, and the construction of codebook.

Optimal Operations & Investments of the Firm
Management Science, 1968In this paper, a dynamic continuous time model of the firm, encompassing operations and investments, is formulated as an optimal control problem in an activity analysis context. In the model, the objective of the firm is to maximize, subject to various constraints, the discounted value of operating profits less the costs of new capacity and the ...

Dynamic optimization of micro-operations
The Ninth International Symposium on High-Performance Computer Architecture, 2003. HPCA-9 2003. Proceedings., 2003Inherent within complex instruction set architectures such as /spl times/86 are inefficiencies that do not exist in a simpler ISA. Modern /spl times/86 implementations decode instructions into one or more micro-operations in order to deal with the complexity of the ISA.

Optimal Operation of Public Lotteries
Management Science, 1975Public lotteries form an important source of revenue for many national and state governments, but little quantitative effort has been applied to their efficient operation. We here formulate a model in which the net revenue per unit time from the operation of a lottery depends upon the prizes offered, the price charged per ticket, and the time interval

Optimizing Operating Room Scheduling
Anesthesiology Clinics, 2015This article reviews the management of an operating room (OR) schedule and use of the schedule to add value to an organization. We review the methodology of an OR block schedule, daily OR schedule management, and post anesthesia care unit patient flow.

Optimization of Single Train Operations
2016Energy efficiency is paid more and more attention in railway systems for reducing the cost of operation companies and emissions to the environment. We both consider the optimizations on timetable and driving strategy are two important and closely dependent parts of energy-efficient operations.

Optimal Sorting in Industrial Operations
Management Science, 1971A theorem is developed which reduces to manageable proportions a linear programming problem of potentially infinite size. A converging iterative procedure is presented for estimating the parameters to be used in combining the activities of the original large problem.
