Fault Current Limiters in Power Systems: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Power systems are becoming more and more complex in nature due to the integration of several power electronic devices. Protection of such systems and augmentation of reliability as well as stability highly depend on limiting the fault currents.

Well placement optimization

open access: yes, 2012
The amount of hydrocarbon recovered can be considerably increased by finding optimal placement of non-conventional wells. For that purpose, the use of optimization algorithms, where the objective function is evaluated using a reservoir simulator, is needed. Furthermore, for complex reservoir geologies with high heterogeneities, the optimization problem

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Standard Cell Placement Optimization Using Quadratic Placement Algorithm

open access: yesOALib, 2020
Designs including tens of millions of standard cells in one chip are commonly used in current IC projects, so finding optimal location on a chip surface for each logic cell is a very important step in IC design. Apart from finding room for logic cell placement with minimum chip area, length of connecting wires is also playing big role and needs to be ...

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Optimal Content Placement for En-Route Web Caching [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This paper studies the optimal placement of web files for en-route web caching. It is shown that existing placement policies are all solving restricted partial problems of the file placement problem, and therefore give only sub-optimal solutions.

Throughput Maximization for RIS-Assisted UAV-Enabled WPCN

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper investigates a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-enabled wireless powered communication network (WPCN). In the system, a UAV acts as a hybrid access point (HAP) to charge users in the downlink (DL)

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Optimal Data Placement on Networks With Constant Number of Clients

open access: yes, 2010
We introduce optimal algorithms for the problems of data placement (DP) and page placement (PP) in networks with a constant number of clients each of which has limited storage availability and issues requests for data objects.
