Optimal PMU Placements Considering System Change
2021In this paper, a new method for optimal phasor measurement unit (PMU) placements is proposed when considering system change. In the method, PMU, zero injection buses (ZIBs) and flow measurements are all considered. When the system changes, there are unobservable buses and new PMUs are needed to guarantee the observability of the system.

Optimal PMU Placement by improved particle swarm optimization
2013 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies-Asia (ISGT Asia), 2013This paper presents an improved method of binary particle swarm optimization (IBPSO) technique for optimal phasor measurement unit (PMU) placement in a power network for complete system observability. Various effective improvements have been proposed to enhance the efficiency and convergence rate of conventional particle swarm optimization method.

Optimal pmu placement for distribution networks
2017 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT-Asia), 2017This paper presents the optimal phasor measurement (PMU) placement for distribution networks. The optimal PMU placement (OPP) formulation from related literatures is presented in integer linear programming (ILP) framework where zero injection buses (ZIBs), PMU channel limitation, PMU outages and line outages were considered.

Optimal PMU placement with binary PSO
2012 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2012A growing number of Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) are being installed throughout the power grid. Among other objectives, PMUs can be used in state estimation. Due to the high purchase price of a PMU and its high installation cost, a minimum number of PMUs is desired to make a given power network fully observable.

Optimal PMU Placement Using Stochastic Methods
2019 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting (PESGM), 2019Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) collect high-precision voltage and current data in order to monitor the performance of a power system. However, it is expensive to implement PMUs on every bus within a power system. Optimal PMU placement (OPP) becomes necessary to minimize the number of PMUs implemented while maintaining full observability of the network.

Optimal PMU placement for voltage control
2016 IEEE International Conference on Smart Grid Communications (SmartGridComm), 2016This paper deals with the optimal phasor measurement unit (PMU) placement problem. In large power system, it is costly to place too many PMUs to achieve real time global observability. In fact, system state can be well estimated by optimally placed limited PMUs' synchronous measurements.

Optimal PMU placement for power system restoration
2015 Clemson University Power Systems Conference (PSC), 2015PMU placement is important to achieve full system observability. Traditional PMU placement algorithms only work for systems in normal condition. During power system restoration, system topology and condition change in each step. Synchrophsors can help to improve the reliability and efficiency of restoration strategy. However, the original PMU placement
