Search and Optimal Sample Sizes

open access: yesThe Review of Economic Studies, 1983
This paper considers the wide class of problems in which a searcher can choose his sample size and whether or not to stop search at each of a sequence of decision points. Sequential search problems are the special cases in which the sample size chosen at each decision point is unity.

Acute Sets of Exponentially Optimal Size [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete & Computational Geometry, 2018
We present a simple construction of an acute set of size $2^{d-1}+1$ in $\mathbb{R}^d$ for any dimension $d$. That is, we explicitly give $2^{d-1}+1$ points in the $d$-dimensional Euclidean space with the property that any three points form an acute triangle. It is known that the maximal number of such points is less than $2^d$.

Feasibility and Preliminary Efficacy of Integrative Neuromuscular Training for Childhood Cancer Survivors: A Pilot Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) often exhibit early deficits in muscle and movement competence, which can compromise long‐term health. Integrative neuromuscular training (INT), a multifaceted approach combining fundamental movement activities with strength exercises, may help address these deficits during ...

Linear Model for Optimal Distributed Generation Size Predication

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2017
This article presents a linear model predicting optimal size of Distributed Generation (DG) that addresses the minimum power loss. This method is based fundamentally on strong coupling between active power and voltage angle as well as between reactive ...

Optimal Size and Location of Distributed Generators using Intelligent Techniques [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2010
One of the modern and important techniques in electrical distributionsystems is to solve the networks problem of service availability, high loss and low voltage stability by accommodating small scaled de-centralized generating units in these networks ...

Optimal Sizing of a Parallel PHEV Powertrain [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2013
This paper introduces a novel method for the simultaneous optimization of energy management and powertrain component sizing of a parallel plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). The problem is formulated as a convex optimization problem to minimize an objective function, which is a weighted sum of operational and component costs.

The Role of Invasive Procedures in the Treatment of Complicated Gastrointestinal Graft‐Versus‐Host Disease in Pediatric Patients

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Gastrointestinal graft‐versus‐host disease (GI GVHD) following hematopoietic stem cell transplant is typically managed with medical therapy, but surgery and angioembolization may be warranted in selected cases with life‐threatening complications.

Optimization simulation and crushing experiment of anti-impact energy absorption component of hydraulic support column

open access: yesMeitan xuebao
Hydraulic support, being the primary supporting equipment in coal mining operations, is frequently subjected to rock burst pressure. Hence, the anti-impact energy absorption components play a pivotal role in safeguarding the hydraulic support system ...

Bayes-optimal estimation of overlap between populations of fixed size. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2019
Measuring the overlap between two populations is, in principle, straightforward. Upon fully sampling both populations, the number of shared objects-species, taxonomical units, or gene variants, depending on the context-can be directly counted.

Blinatumomab Utilization in Pediatric B‐Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: Experience From the Mountain West

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Blinatumomab is a bispecific T‐cell engager approved for the treatment of pediatric B‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B‐ALL). Outpatient home infusion reduces hospitalization burden and optimizes resource utilization, but is logistically challenging.
