Optimal Operation of a Wind Driven System

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Engineering Sciences, 2004
This paper presents a number of controlling techniques that can used in extracting the wind energy from a wind prime mover. The extraction of wind energy bears in mind the target of matching the electric power needed by an electric generator with the ...

Analysis of dynamic traffic models and assignments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper develops a comprehensive framework for analysing and solving traffic models and assignments in dynamic setting. Traffic models capture the time-varying travel times and flows on a road network and traffic assignments represent the ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Optimal System and Group Invariant Solutions of the Whitham-Broer-Kaup System

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2019
From the nonlocal symmetries of the Whitham-Broer-Kaup system, an eight-dimensional Lie algebra is found and the corresponding one-dimensional optimal system is constructed to provide an inequivalent classification.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Time-optimal controlonasubspaceforthetwoand three-dimensional system

open access: yesVisnik Harkivsʹkogo Nacionalʹnogo Universitetu im. V.N. Karazina. Cepiâ Matematika, Prikladna Matematika i Mehanika
This article is devoted to the problem of the optimal synthesis on a subspace for the 2 and 3-dimensional case for the linear control system $\dot{x_1} = u, \dot{x}_i=x_{i-1}, i=\overline{2,n}$ with $|u|\le1$.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox
