Noncoercive Optimization Problems
Mathematics of Operations Research, 1996This paper modifies a recent sufficient condition for the existence of optimal solutions proposed by Buttazzo and Tomarelli, to obtain a condition that is necessary and sufficient. Applications to mathematical programming are given and stability results established.

Problems of Order Optimization
Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 2002In the introduction, different results concerning the investigation of monotone Boolean functions are presented, and it is mentioned that the aim of this paper is a restatement of a class of combinatorial problems in terms of the order optimization on finite partially ordered sets.

Thickness optimization problem
Optimization, 1988An optimal control problem governed by a variational inequality of elliptic type is considered. Necessary optimality conditions are obtained and, in some special cases, the optimal control is determined.

Throughout the ages, man has continuously been involved with the process of optimization. In its earliest form, optimization consisted of unscientific rituals and prejudices like pouring libations and sacrificing animals to the gods, consulting the oracles, observing the positions of the stars, and watching the flight of birds.

Optimality Conditions for Vector Optimization Problems
Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, 2009The paper considers vector optimization problems (VOP) of the form \[ \min F(x) \text{ subject to } u_i(x) \leq 0, i\in\{1, \dots, m\}; v_j(x) =0, j\in\{1, \dots, n\}, \] where \(F:X \rightarrow \mathbb{R}^L\) and \(u_i, v_j: X\rightarrow \mathbb{R}\) and \(X\) is a Banach space.

Summary: The paper studies the problem of determining the number and dimensions of sizes of apparel so as to maximize profits. It develops a simple one- variable bisection search algorithm that gives the optimal solution. An example is solved interactively using a Macintosh LC and Math CAD, a mathematical software package.

A Problem in Reliability Optimization
Journal of the Operational Research Society, 1986Summary: We consider the system efficiency measure as the average asymptotic gain earned by the system for one time unit. Such defined efficiency is a continuous function of the load that the system is to support. Each increment of the load causes an increment of the gain.

The PrePack Optimization Problem
2014The goal of packing optimization is to provide a foundation for decisions related to inventory allocation as merchandise is brought to warehouses and then dispatched. Major retail chains must fulfill requests from hundreds of stores by dispatching items stored in their warehouses. The demand for clothing items may vary to a considerable extent from one

Optimization Problems for Moment Inequalities and Related Problems of Optimal Control
ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1975AbstractThis paper describes two optimization problems (OMi) for the solutions of a system of so called moment inequalities and two corresponding problems (OCi) of optimal control to systems, whose state functions are represented by the control parameters and functions in a source‐like manner.
