Retention of HIV infected pregnant and breastfeeding women on option B+ in Gomba District, Uganda: a retrospective cohort study

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases, 2018
BackgroundLifelong antiretroviral therapy for HIV infected pregnant and lactating women (Option B+) has been rapidly scaled up but there are concerns about poor retention of women initiating treatment.

Multivariate Option Pricing with Time Varying Volatility and Correlations [PDF]

open access: yes
In recent years multivariate models for asset returns have received much attention, in particular this is the case for models with time varying volatility. In this paper we consider models of this class and examine their potential when it comes to option

Experience With Performing Rheocarna Therapy via the Single‐Needle Method for Treatment of Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This study investigated the safety and efficacy of single‐needle Rheocarna therapy for chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) with wounds. Methods Six patients with CLTI involving ulcers unresponsive to revascularization underwent single‐needle Rheocarna treatment.

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Option B+ prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS service intervention outcomes in selected health facilities, Adama town, Ethiopia

open access: yesHIV/AIDS, 2019
Background: Vertical HIV transmission from mother-to-child accounts for more than 90% of pediatric HIV/AIDS infection. Virtual elimination of mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) of HIV is possible by giving comprehensive prevention of HIV/AIDS mother-to ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

National estimates and risk factors associated with early mother-to-child transmission of HIV after implementation of option B+: a cross-sectional analysis

open access: yesThe Lancet HIV, 2018
Summary Background Routine data from Malawi’s prevention of mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) option B+ programme suggest high uptake of antiretroviral therapy (ART) among pregnant women.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...
