Optoelectronic microwave oscillator

Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 1996
We describe a novel oscillator that converts continuous light energy into stable and spectrally pure microwave signals. This optoelectronic microwave oscillator consists of a pump laser and a feedback circuit including an intensity modulator, an optical fiber delay line, a photodetector, an amplifier, and a filter.

Multiloop optoelectronic oscillator

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 2000
We describe and demonstrate a multiloop technique for single-mode selection in an optoelectronic oscillator (OEO). We present experimental results of a dual loop OEO, free running at 10 GHz, that has the lowest phase noise (-140 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz from carrier) of all free-running room-temperature oscillators to date.

Multifrequency optoelectronic oscillator

Optical Engineering, 2014
We propose a simple and cost-effective multifrequency optoelectronic oscillator (OEO) which is able to simultaneously generate two or more independent microwave signals by adding parallel filtering branches in the feedback loop. In the experimental demonstration, two signals with frequencies of 20 and 9 GHz are suc- cessfully generated. Compared with a

W-Band Optoelectronic Oscillator

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2020
We demonstrate the first W-band optoelectronic oscillator (OEO), that oscillates at 94.5 GHz with a measured single side band (SSB) phase noise of −101 dBc/Hz at an offset frequency of 10 kHz from the carrier. Side mode suppression of more than 65 dB has been achieved by using injection locking.

Modeling optoelectronic oscillators

Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 2008
We have developed a comprehensive simulation model for accurately studying the dynamics in optoelectronic oscillators (OEOs). Although the OEO is characterized by three widely separated time scales, our model requires neither long run times nor a large amount of memory storage. The model generalizes the Yao-Maleki model and includes all of the physical

A Theoretical and Experimental Study of Injection-Locking and Injection-Pulling for Optoelectronic Oscillators Under Radio Frequency Signal Injection

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2020
This article presents a detailed study of injection-locking characteristics of a single-loop optoelectronic oscillator (OEO) under strong radio frequency (RF) signal injection.

On the Transient Behavior of Single-Loop Optoelectronic Oscillators Under RF Injection-Locking

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 2020
A study on the transient behavior of a single-loop optoelectronic oscillator (OEO) under a single sinusoidal radio frequency (RF) signal injection is presented.

Routes to chaos and characterization of limit-cycle oscillations in wideband time-delayed optoelectronic oscillators with nonlinear filters

, 2020
In this paper, we show that the cubic nonlinear optoelectronic oscillator (CN-OEO) [IEEE J. Quantum Electron.55, 5000106-1 (2019)IEJQA70018-919710.1109/JQE.2019.2920694] depicts the phenomena of amplitude jump and crenelated oscillations in its routes to
