A Novel Multiloop Optoelectronic Oscillator

We present a novel realization of a multiloop optoelectronic oscillator based on a wavelength multiplexed optical source and fiber Bragg grating reflectors. The oscillator exhibits a phase noise of -108 dBc/Hz at 10-kHz offset from the 10.2-GHz carrier while suppressing parasitic modes to below -80 dBc.

Highly-tunable optoelectronic microwave oscillator

We report on a tunable optoelectronic microwave oscillator stabilized with an optical frequency-locked loop. The microwave signal is generated by heterodyning two cross-polarized optical waves. Its frequency is then locked with an electrooptical frequency discriminator realized with a 100 m long optical fiber delay line.

Semiconductor laser-based optoelectronics oscillators

We demonstrate the realization of coupled opto-electronic oscillators (COEO) with different semiconductor lasers, including a ring laser, a Fabry-Perot laser, and a colliding pulse mode-locked laser. Each COEO can simultaneously generate short optical pulses and spectrally pure RF signals.

Scaling behavior of oscillations arising in delay-coupled optoelectronic oscillators

We study the effect of asymmetric coupling strengths on the onset of oscillations in delay-coupled nonlinear systems. Our experiment consists of two wide-band optoelectronic devices that are cross-coupled. We find that oscillations appear in the system when the product of the two coupling strengths exceeds a critical value.

Control of coexisting periodic oscillations in an optoelectronic oscillator

We investigate the dynamics of a modified optoelectronic oscillator (OEO) through theoretical and numerical analysis. The OEO under study is different from the conventional OEO in the sense that it contains a van der Pol oscillator (VDPO) in its feedback loop, in place of the RF band pass filter.

Dynamics of Liénard Optoelectronic Oscillators

In this chapter we present a comprehensive study on the dynamics of novel nonlinear optoelectronic oscillators (OEO) modeled by Lienard OEO systems. The OEO dynamical systems are based on negative differential resistance resonant tunneling diode oscillators incorporating a photoconductive region and laser diodes.
