Static and Dynamic Optical Analysis of Micro Wrinkle Formation on a Liquid Surface

open access: yesMicromachines, 2021
A spatially periodic voltage was used to create a dielectrophoresis induced periodic micro wrinkle deformation on the surface of a liquid film. Optical Coherence Tomography provided the equilibrium wrinkle profile at submicron accuracy.

Quantification of Fluoroquinolone Uptake through the Outer Membrane Channel OmpF of Escherichia coli. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Decreased drug accumulation is a common cause of antibiotic resistance in microorganisms. However, there are few reliable general techniques capable of quantifying drug uptake through bacterial membranes.

Optofluidic 1x4 Switch

open access: yesOptics Express, 2008
An optofluidic 1x4 switch is designed, fabricated, and tested. The switch is based on a blazed diffraction grating imprinted onto silicone elastomer at the bottom of a microfluidic channel that is filled with liquids with different refractive indices.

Multilayer Soft Photonic Arrays Inspired by Cephalopod Skin for High‐Density, Independent, and Multimodal Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 31, 16 April 2026.
A vertically stacked, DEA‐driven photonic array inspired by cephalopod skin, featuring highly crystalline colloidal crystal gels with vivid color, low FWHM and scalability is presented. The multilayer design removes lateral pixel interference, achieving near‐100% fill factor with fully independent RGB actuation.

Colloidal Photonic Fibers for Reflectively Colorful Radiative Cooling Fabrics

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 6, Issue 4, April 2026.
Microfluidic extrusion of mid‐infrared (IR)–emissive silica colloidal structural fluids enables scalable photonic glass fibers with angle‐independent, pigment‐free structural colors tunable across the visible spectrum while maintaining broadband mid‐IR emissivity (>0.9). Woven into fabrics, these fibers combine high solar reflectance and strong thermal

PiP‐Plex: A Particle‐in‐Particle System for Multiplexed Quantification of Proteins Secreted by Single Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 13, 3 March 2026.
Detecting proteins secreted by a single cell while retaining its viability remains challenging. A particles‐in‐particle (PiPs) system made by co‐encapsulating barcoded microparticles (BMPs) with a single cell inside an alginate hydrogel particle is introduced.
