Myeloid‐Derived Grancalcin Promotes Periodontal Inflammation and Pathological Bone Remodeling in Periodontitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Grancalcin (GCA), a myeloid‐derived protein, is enriched in gingival tissues of periodontitis patients and mouse models. Through interactions with CD44 and activation of MYH9, GCA promotes NF‐κB signaling and exacerbates periodontal inflammation and bone loss.

Restarting oral anticoagulants after intracerebral hemorrhage: pros [PDF]

open access: yesInternal and Emergency Medicine, 2014
Restarting anticoagulants after an intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is one of the challenges that no physician feels happy to face: the available evidence is very weak to support any strong suggestion. Unfortunately, this is a rather frequent scenario given the large number of patients who are treated with anticoagulants, and the fact that intracerebral ...

A Microbial Lipid‐ATP Synthase Axis Fuels NK Cell Antitumor Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study focuses on the mechanism by which gut microbiota‐derived outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) regulate NK cell antitumor activity. B. intestinalis is identified to decrease extra‐intestinal tumor growth via its OMVs enriched in sphingosine (SP).

An Implantable Scaffold Sequentially Releasing STING Agonist and B7‐H3 Antibody for Bone Metastasis Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We developed an implantable dual‐drug depot using GelMA for bone metastasis treatment, co‐delivering MSA‐2 and αB7‐H3‐loaded CaCO3 microparticles. Sustained release from GelMA scaffold enables MSA‐2 to activate STING signaling and enhance T‐cell infiltration and activation, while sequentially released αB7‐H3 blocks MSA‐2‐induced B7‐H3 upregulation ...

Catechol Derivative‐Based Bioadhesives: Molecular Design for Precision Medical Adhesion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study utilizes tree‐inspired side‐chain engineering to graft five catechol derivatives onto PVA, systematically revealing how side‐chain length and substituents regulate adhesion and cohesion properties. Among them, the PVA‐CA patch demonstrates superior tissue adhesion, biocompatibility, and promotes regeneration, establishing a programmable ...

Bilateral adrenal hemorrhage induced by direct oral anticoagulant therapy in atrial fibrillation: a case report and literature review

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Internal Medicine
Background Adrenal hemorrhage (AH) is a rare but potentially life-threatening complication of anticoagulant therapy, with a mortality rate of approximately 15%. Most documented cases involve low-molecular weight or unfractionated heparin.

Volume and Characteristics of Intracerebral Hemorrhage with Direct Oral Anticoagulants in Comparison with Warfarin

open access: yesCerebrovascular Diseases Extra, 2017
Background: Patients undergoing anticoagulation therapy often experience intracerebral hemorrhages (ICHs), and warfarin in particular is known to increase hematoma expansion in ICHs, which results in a poor outcome.

Randomized, open-label, phase 1/2a study to determine the maximum tolerated dose of intraventricular sustained release nimodipine for subarachnoid hemorrhage (NEWTON [Nimodipine Microparticles to Enhance Recovery While Reducing Toxicity After Subarachnoid Hemorrhage]) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE—: We conducted a randomized, open-label, phase 1/2a, dose-escalation study of intraventricular sustained-release nimodipine (EG-1962) to determine safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and clinical effects in aneurysmal ...
