Euclidean Space with Orbital Angular Momentum

2019 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops (ICC Workshops), 2019
Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) has been considered as a new dimension of wireless transmission as well as the intrinsic property of electromagnetic wave. When OAM is applied with the traditional modulation and coding, the extended Euclidean space can be established to illustrate the signal with OAM dimension.

Orbital Angular Momentum With Index Modulation

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2018
Orbital angular momentum (OAM)-based mode division multiplexing (MDM) is an emerging physical layer solution for short-distance line-of-sight wireless communications by providing high spectral efficiency with a considerably low detection complexity. Similarly, index modulation (IM) schemes have been extensively studied over the past few years due to ...

Spin and Orbital Angular Momentum of Photons

Europhysics Letters (EPL), 1994
We consider the separation of the total angular momentum of the electromagnetic field into a "spin" and an "orbital" part. Though this separation is normally considered to be unphysical and not observable, we argue that both members in the separation are separately measurable quantities.

Measuring the orbital angular momentum of a single photon

Physical Review Letters, 2002
We propose an interferometric method for measuring the orbital angular momentum of single photons. We demonstrate its viability by sorting four different orbital angular momentum states, and are thus able to encode two bits of information on a single photon.

Error probability on the orbital angular momentum detection

2014 IEEE 25th Annual International Symposium on Personal, Indoor, and Mobile Radio Communication (PIMRC), 2014
The orbital angular momentum (OAM) is a physical property of an electromagnetic (EM) radiation, distinct from polarization, carrying a mechanical moment. In radio frequency range, OAM can be viewed as a phase gradient on the wave front. In this paper, the problem of the detection of the orbital angular momentum (OAM) order (or topological charge) for ...

Special Nature of Orbital Angular Momentum

American Journal of Physics, 1963
The properties of orbital angular momentum operators are examined within the framework of the formal theory of angular momentum. It is demonstrated that the occurrence of only integral quantum numbers in the orbital theory is a consequence of the particular form of the orbital operators. Single-valuedness of the eigenfunctions need not be postulated.

Locking Orbital Angular Momentum with Linear Momentum of Light

Physical Review Letters
Correlation between the propagation direction of light and spin can be induced via the spin-orbit interaction and has been proven to be the workhorse in the emerging field of chiral quantum optics and in the spin-related Hall effects of light. Photonic orbital angular momentum (OAM) provides a high-dimensional degree of freedom in classical and quantum
