Acoustic orbital angular momentum Hall effect and realization using a metasurface
Vortex beams with a twisted wavefront possess both intrinsic and extrinsic orbital angular momenta. Their coupling (viz. orbital-orbital coupling) leads to an orbital angular momentum Hall effect previously found in light, providing applications in light

Efficient Sorting of Orbital Angular Momentum States of Light
We present a method to efficiently sort orbital angular momentum (OAM) states of light using two static optical elements. The optical elements perform a Cartesian to log-polar coordinate transformation, converting the helically phased light beam corresponding to OAM states into a beam with a transverse phase gradient.

Carrying Data on the Orbital Angular Momentum of Light [PDF]
The use of fiber optic cable in support of bandwidth expansion has become de rigeur. Not only does optical fiber offer tremendous bandwidth, it is also low in attenuation, small in cross section, inexpensive, and impervious to electromagnetic interference, and there are significant economies of scale on components developed for the myriad of optical ...

Partonic angular momentum in the nucleon's chiral periphery
We study the nucleon's partonic angular momentum (AM) content at peripheral transverse distances b=O(Mπ−1), where the structure is governed by chiral dynamics.

Amplification and generation of ultra-intense twisted laser pulses via stimulated Raman scattering
High intensity light with a non-zero orbital angular momentum could aid the development of laser-wakefield particle accelerators. Here, the authors theoretically show that stimulated Raman backscattering in plasmas can generate and amplify orbital ...

Detection of a Spinning Object Using Light’s Orbital Angular Momentum [PDF]
Doppler Effect with a Twist The Doppler shift is a familiar and well-understood effect in acoustics. Radar guns use the same effect to determine the speed of moving vehicles. Applied to a rotating object side-on, however, a linear Doppler effect would register no movement. Using twisted light, whereby photons are imprinted with a

Propagable Optical Vortices with Natural Noninteger Orbital Angular Momentum in Free Space
Light beams with optical vortices can propagate in free space only with integer orbital angular momentum. Herein, this scientific consensus theoretically and experimentally is upheaved by proposing light beams carrying natural noninteger orbital angular ...

Transfer of Orbital Angular Momentum of Light Using Autler-Townes Splitting
We propose a scheme to exchange optical vortices beyond electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) but based on four-wave mixing (FWM) in a five-level atomic system consisting of two Λ subsystems linked via a weak driving field. When the laser fields
