Orbital tuberculosis presenting as vision loss and headache: early management is paramount

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmic Inflammation and Infection
Orbital tuberculosis is a rare form of extra pulmonary TB and may arise either by hematogenous route or spread directly from the paranasal sinus. We herein report two cases of orbital TB with a vision threatening complication.

6.1% Volumetric Negative Thermal Expansion Induced by the Reversible Reconstructive Phase Transition in Pb‐Free Bi1−xLnxCoO3 (Ln: Lanthanoid)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Perovskite‐type oxide lanthanoid‐substituted BiCoO3 exhibits a reversible negative thermal expansion (NTE) originated from the coordination change from the CoO5 pyramid to the CoO6 octahedron due to melting of the dxy orbital ordering in the d6 electron configuration, and the 6.1% volume shrinkage in Bi0.82Nd0.18CoO3 is the largest ever observed in the

Electric‐Field‐Controlled Interconversion of Antiferromagnetic States in a Two‐Dimensional Antiferroelectric Halide Perovskite

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Electric‐field‐controlled antiferroelectric switching offers a ferroic pathway for reversible interconversion between symmetry‐distinct antiferromagnetic states in a two‐dimensional halide perovskite. A spin‐split altermagnet transforms into a spin‐degenerate type‐IV antiferromagnet through field‐driven structural symmetry reconstruction, enabling ...

Niche‐Mediated Neural Priming Enables Robust and Scalable Generation of Human Choroid Plexus Organoids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Compared to E8, mTeSR1 culture downregulated WNT and TGF‑β signaling, and upregulated neural differentiation pathways, enhancing neural priming. Under skin organoid induction conditions, mTeSR1‑cultured hESCs generated organoids with significantly higher neuroepithelial differentiation.

Molecular Glue Degraders Enhance CAPRIN1‐Dependent Lysosomal Degradation of APP and Reduce Amyloid β in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new class of lysosome‐directed molecular glue degraders selectively enhance CAPRIN1–APP interactions, driving APP degradation and reducing amyloid‐β production in human neurons and Alzheimer's disease mouse models. This CAPRIN1‐dependent targeted protein degradation strategy reveals a previously unrecognized therapeutic approach for disrupting the ...

Diversity‐Oriented Two‐Step Annulative π‐Extension Enables Access to Structurally Complex Nanographenes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Pd‐catalyzed C–H arylation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) with various aryltrimethylsilanes enables the preparation of structurally complicated arylated PAHs, which can be further transformed to nanographenes in a manner of two‐step annulative π‐extension (APEX) reaction.

Engineering Borophene Band Structure Through Thickness

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Borophene grown on W(110) shows a thickness‐dependent evolution of its structural and electronic properties. Surface microscopy, diffraction, XPS, and ARPES reveal distinct monolayer and bilayer phases. The formation of the second layer is accompanied by structural reconstruction, changes in chemical properties, and new ARPES features, demonstrating ...

Polyarteritis nodosa presenting as sixth nerve palsy: a case report

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
IntroductionPolyarteritis nodosa (PAN) is a rare systemic necrotizing vasculitis affecting medium-sized vessels. While peripheral neuropathy occurs in 50–75% of patients, cranial nerve involvement is exceptionally rare, affecting fewer than 2% of ...
