Normal Form Invariants Around Spin-Orbit Periodic Orbits

Celestial Mechanics and Dynamical Astronomy, 2000
The authors consider an oblate satellite orbiting a central planet with \(T_{\text{rev}}\) the period of revolution. The satellite rotates about an internal spin axis with rotational period \(T_{\text{rot}}\). A spin-orbit resonance occurs when the ratio \(T_{\text{rev}}/T_{\text{rot}}\) is a rational number.

Canonical Forms and Orbit Spaces of Linear Systems

IMA Journal of Mathematical Control and Information, 1986
Since globally continuous canonical forms exist only for very special group actions we propose to look instead for canonical forms which yield continuous sections on appropriate cellular decompositions of the orbit space. In this expository paper we present some general results concerning these `cellular' canonical forms for various types of group ...

Representation of orbits in the form of a sum of elementary orbits

Russian Mathematical Surveys, 1994
It is proved by elementary methods that the orbits of the Borel and maximal unitriangular subgroups in \(GL (n,k) \times GL (m,k)\), where \(k\) is an arbitrary field, under the actions by \(k^n \otimes k^m\) are represented in the form of the sum of elementary orbits. A similar fact holds true for \(GL (n,k)\) and \(S^2 k^n\) or \(\Lambda^2 k^n\).

Patient-Specific Orbital Implants Vs. Pre-Formed Implants for Internal Orbital Reconstruction

Seminars in Ophthalmology, 2023
To compare the outcome of orbital blowout fracture repair by means of pre-formed porous-polyethylene titanium implants (PFI) vs patient-specific porous-polyethylene implants (PSI).Retrospective cohort study. Baseline characteristics, ophthalmic examination results, ocular motility, fracture type, the timing of surgery, implant type, and final relative ...

GL2(ℂ)-orbits of binary forms

Doklady Mathematics, 2010
In the present paper we study the orbits of action of the group GL2(ℂ) on the space of binary forms. The main result of the paper is the proof of the criterion which divides the GL2(ℂ)-orbits of binary forms.

Orbital forming of an oxygen cylinder web

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1997
Abstract The technology of orbital cold forming of an oxygen cylinder web, made of austenitic, acid-proof steel, grade 1H18N9T [1,2] is presented. The web is a closure of the oxygen cylinder, which is a part of the oxygen respirator used by miner rescue workers in this country and abroad.

Orbital Forming of Automotive Wheel Bearings

SAE International Journal of Advances and Current Practices in Mobility, 2019
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Orbital forming is considered an optimal assembly process for many designs of automotive wheel bearing assemblies. More specifically, this process involves forming the spindle over the inner race of the wheel bearing to maximize surface area contact on the inner ring for ...

Canonical forms and orbit identification problems in machine vision

Proceedings of the 39th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (Cat. No.00CH37187), 2002
We introduce canonical forms for perspective dynamical systems under the action of a perspective group and illustrate their application to parameter identification with the aid of a single CCD camera. We show that the parameters in the canonical form can be identified uniquely using an extended Kalman filter.

Vacuum form sheet as a guide for fabrication of orbital prosthesis

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2014
Rehabilitation with an orbital prosthesis is done when surgical reconstruction is not possible or affordable in patients with orbital exenteration. Fabrication of orbital prosthesis requires precision in placement of the ocular portion of the prosthesis on the facial moulage.

A Correlation between Molecular Vibrations and Bond-forming Orbitals

Nature, 1948
IN a recent letter, Heath and Linnett1 suggested for the treatment of molecular vibrations a new force field, the orbital valency force field. This is based more closely on modern ideas of directed valency than is the simple valency force field. We decided to test the orbital valency force field on methane, which is a convenient molecule to use, since ...
