Contrast‐enhanced ultrasonography vs MRI for indeterminate testicular lesions: a systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesBJU International, EarlyView.
Objective To conduct a systematic review and meta‐analysis to indirectly compare the diagnostic performance of contrast‐enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the evaluation of indeterminate testicular lesions and to explore their potential roles in guiding clinical decision‐making.

Evaluation of core and surface body temperatures, prevalence, onset, duration and severity of hot flashes in men after bilateral orchidectomy for prostate cancer

open access: yesInternational Brazilian Journal of Urology, 2008
OBJECTIVE: To assess the prevalence, onset, duration and severity of hot flashes in men after bilateral orchidectomies (BO) for prostate cancer, to evaluate body temperature changes during hot flashes and to determine whether an elevated temperature ...

Genetic Predictors of Progression and Skin Rash in Japanese mCSPC Patients Treated With Apalutamide: CUARTET Study

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
In patients with mCSPC treated with apalutamide plus ADT, baseline ctDNA predicted earlier progression to CRPC and worse overall survival. Exploratory genome‐wide analysis identified 12 SNPs associated with apalutamide‐related skin rash. ABSTRACT Despite promising evidence of the efficacy of the androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) plus apalutamide in ...

Testicular torsion in children: A series of seven cases

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Scientific Research
Testicular torsion (TT) is the rotation of the testis to the longitudinal axis of the spermatic cord, which impedes testicular blood supply. Haemorrhagic infarction of the testis starts 2 h after the torsion; irreversible vascular injury appears 6 h ...

Physiological Basis of Sex Differences in Human Performance and Exercise‐Associated Pathology

open access: yesClinical Endocrinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The presence of sex differences in human physical performance is well‐established and shaped by distinct endocrine, anatomical and physiological mechanisms. Despite sustained advances, our understanding of how inherent biological factors drive variations in exercise capacity and related pathologies is still developing.

The present and future of serum diagnostic tests for testicular germ cell tumours [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Testicular germ cell tumours (GCTs) are the most common malignancy occurring in young adult men and the incidence of these tumours is increasing. Current research priorities in this field include improving overall survival for patients classified as ...

Diagnostic yield of OCT3/4 reflex testing in testicular biopsy

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
GCNIS detection frequency was 48/3353 (1.4%) testicular biopsies from 42/1870 (2.2%) men who underwent testicular biopsy with or without testicular sperm extraction (TESE). OCT3/4 was particularly helpful for detecting interstitial seminoma, GCNIS coexisting with mature spermatogenesis, and focal GCNIS.

A unique case of a malignant sertoli cell tumour with cutaneous metastasis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Pure Sertoli cell tumours (SCTs) represent less than 1% of testicular neoplasms and malignant forms are rare. We present a unique case of a 69-year-old man who initially underwent inguinal orchidectomy for a malignant SCT.

Immunophenotypic assessment of pure embryonal carcinoma and yolk sac tumour suggests that reprogramming to non‐seminoma occurs outside the spermatogonial niche

open access: yesHistopathology, EarlyView.
Immunohistochemical analysis of transcription factors in GCNIS associated with pure EC and YST suggests that reprogramming to non‐seminoma occurs outside the spermatogonial niche. In these tumors, reprogramming may occur immediately upon invasion of the stroma or within seminiferous tubules but outside the spermatogonial niche (i.e., in intratubular ...

Testicular Compartment Syndrome in a Case of Fulminant Necrotizing Orchitis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Medical and Health Research
Testicular compartment syndrome (TCS) impedes the microcirculation in the testicle, resulting from increased venous resistance or an extraluminal compression that might lead to a cascade of hypoxia, ischemia, and gangrene.
