Order preserving functions and generalized convexity

Rivista di Matematica per le Scienze Economiche e Sociali, 1991
Let \(X\subseteq\mathbb{R}^ n\) and \(Z\subseteq\mathbb{R}\) be nonempty sets endowed with a binary relation \(\succeq_ 1\) and \(\succeq_ 2\), respectively. Given a function \(f: X\to Z\), we say that \(f\) preserves \(\succeq_ 1\) with \(\succeq_ 2\) if \(f(z)\succeq_ 2 f(x)\) whenever \(x,y\in X\) satisfy \(y\succeq_ 1 x\). Under the assumption that

The Functor of Order-Preserving Functionals of Finite Degree

Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 2006
It is proved that the space of all order-preserving functionals with finite supports is a compact, and if the supports are one-point sets, then this space is the Stone-Chech compactification of a given Tychonoff space. Bibliography: 4 titles.

Order-Preserving Approximations to Successive Derivatives of Periodic Functions by Iterated Splines

SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 1988
Let s be the periodic spline of degree 2r-1 on a finite uniform mesh which agrees with \(f\in C^{2r}\) at the knots. Then both \(\| s- f\|_{\infty}\) and \(\| s'-f'\|_{\infty}\) are \(O(h^{2r})\) but the error in approximations to higher derivatives worsens as the order of derivative increases.

Order-Preserving Mesh Spacing for Compound Quadrature Formulas and Functions with Endpoint Singularities

SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 1995
Summary: For compound quadrature formulas for the numerical evaluation of \(\int^ b_ a w(x) f(x)dx\), where the function \(f\) as well as the weight function \(w\) are allowed to have singularities at the endpoints \(a\) and \(b\), we show how to preserve the order of convergence, which is obtained for smooth \(w\) and \(f\), by an appropriate choice ...

Order Preserving Minimal Perfect Hash Functions and Information Retrieval

2013
Rapid access to information is essential for a wide variety of retrieval systems and applications. Hashing has long been used when the fastest possible direct search is desired, but is generally not appropriate when sequential or range searches are also required.

Continuous order-preserving functions for nontotal preorders on normal spaces

2012
Summary: We discuss the continuous real representability of a not necessarily total preorder on a normal topological space in connection with a suitable continuity assumption, called \textit{\(C\)-continuity} in this paper. We show that a topology \(\tau\) on a set \(X\) is normal if and only if the topological preordered space \((X,\precsim,\tau)\) is
