The UDWT image denoising method based on the PDE model of a convexity-preserving diffusion function

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Image and Video Processing, 2019
It is a great challenge to maintain details while suppressing and eliminating noise of the image. Considering the nonconvexity property of the diffusion function and the hypersensitivity of the Laplace operator to noise in the Y-K model, a fourth-order ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Properties of Topologies for the Continuous Representability of All Weakly Continuous Preorders

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
We investigate properties of strongly useful topologies, i.e., topologies with respect to which every weakly continuous preorder admits a continuous order-preserving function.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Privacy-Preserving Linear and Nonlinear Approximation via Linear Programming [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We propose a novel privacy-preserving random kernel approximation based on a data matrix A ? Rm n whose rows are divided into privately owned blocks.

Securing Databases by using Diagonal-based Order Preserving Symmetric Encryption [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The amount of information stored in databases is constantly increasing. Databases contain multiple records, each of them divided in several data fields. And some of these fields may contain sensitive information, so there is a need to prevent free access

Update on the Protective Molecular Pathways Improving Pancreatic Beta-Cell Dysfunction

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2013
The primary function of pancreatic beta-cells is to produce and release insulin in response to increment in extracellular glucose concentrations, thus maintaining glucose homeostasis. Deficient beta-cell function can have profound metabolic consequences,

Operator function associated with an order preserving operator inequality [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Inequalities, 2009
A capital letter means a bounded linear operator on a Hilbert space H. The celebrated Lowner-Heinz inequality asserts that A B 0 ensures A α B α for any α ∈ (0,1) ,b utA p B p does not always hold for p > 1.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

A Family of Modified Even Order Bernoulli-Type Multiquadric Quasi-Interpolants with Any Degree Polynomial Reproduction Property

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
By using the polynomial expansion in the even order Bernoulli polynomials and using the linear combinations of the shifts of the function f(x)(x∈ℝ) to approximate the derivatives of f(x), we propose a family of modified even order Bernoulli-type ...
