Hands‐on protocol for preparing water‐soluble fractions from agri‐food samples for NMR‐based metabolomics analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol outlines a workflow for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)‐based metabolomics in the agri‐food sector. Using two case studies—strawberry leaves (solid matrix) and wine (liquid matrix)—it details the procedures for sample preparation, data acquisition, and processing.

VARIABLE NEIGHBORHOOD SEARCH FOR ORDER BATCHING IN A WAREHOUSE [PDF]

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Operational Research, 2009
In this paper we address the problem of batching orders in a warehouse, with the objective of minimizing the total travel time. Order batching is an NP-hard optimization problem that is very difficult to solve exactly in practice. Thus, most implemented solutions are based on elementary heuristic methods that perform a relatively limited exploration ...

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

An adaptive agent-based approach for instant delivery order dispatching: Incorporating task buffering and dynamic batching strategies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Transportation Science and Technology
The volume of instant delivery has witnessed a significant growth in recent years. Given the involvement of numerous heterogeneous stakeholders, instant delivery operations are inherently characterized by dynamics and uncertainties. This study introduces

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Inhibition of Classical and Alternative Complement Pathway by Ravulizumab and Eculizumab

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore the feasibility of classical (CH50) and alternative (AH50) complement pathway activity as potential biomarkers for treatment guidance and monitoring during therapy with ravulizumab in patients with generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) and compare these to therapeutic drug monitoring under eculizumab.
