Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Linearizability of Nonlinear Third-Order Ordinary Differential Equations by Using a Generalized Linearizing Transformation

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
We discuss the linearization problem of third-order ordinary differential equation under the generalized linearizing transformation. We identify the form of the linearizable equations and the conditions which allow the third-order ordinary differential ...

Exact Travelling-Wave Solutions of the Extended Fifth-Order Korteweg-de Vries Equation via Simple Equations Method (SEsM): The Case of Two Simple Equations

open access: yesEntropy, 2022
We apply the Simple Equations Method (SEsM) for obtaining exact travelling-wave solutions of the extended fifth-order Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation. We present the solution of this equation as a composite function of two functions of two independent ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Four Steps Implicit Method for the Solution of General Second Order Ordinary Differential Equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Four steps implicit scheme for the solution of second order ordinary differential equation was derived through interpolation and collocation method. Newton polynomial approximation method was used to generate the unknown parameters in the corrector ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Population Growth Models Using Fuzzy Ordinary Differential Equation

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Exatas e Tecnológicas
Fuzzy mathematics is a branch of mathematics that presents a new approach to the classical notion of set, enabling the generalization of concepts and results from classical mathematics.

On Nonlinear Dynamics of the STAT5a Signaling Protein

open access: yesBiomath, 2014
In this paper we model the dynamics of the cross talk between MEK/ERK and JAK/STAT signaling pathways by means of nonlinear ordinary differential equations.

Neural ordinary differential equation control of dynamics on graphs

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2022
We study the ability of neural networks to calculate feedback control signals that steer trajectories of continuous-time nonlinear dynamical systems on graphs, which we represent with neural ordinary differential equations (neural ODEs).
