Structural and biochemical analysis of a B12 superbinder

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
BtuG proteins are vitamin B12 scavengers in Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, a dominant human gut bacterium. We present crystal structures of three BtuG homologs bound to cobalamin and its precursor cobinamide, revealing picomolar binding affinities, among the highest known for any natural protein.

Socrate et Durkheim : paradoxe et logique du bon sens commun [PDF]

open access: yesStudii de Lingvistica, 2019
Although paradoxical as such, the parallel between Durkheim and Socrates stems from a twofold assumption: (i) both discourses, the philosopher’s and the logician’s, define themselves in the frame of a common generic system – that of constitutive ...

Structures of mycobacterial 3‐methylcrotonyl‐CoA carboxylase reveal carrier‐domain translocation between catalytic sites

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mycobacterial 3‐methylcrotonyl‐CoA carboxylase uses a mobile biotin‐carrying domain to shuttle a carboxyl group between two catalytic sites, enabling carboxylation of 3‐methylcrotonyl‐CoA during leucine breakdown. Cryo‐electron microscopy captures the carrier at both sites and reveals an inward loop movement that may prevent futile rebinding to the ...

The Shewanella oneidensis Fic enzyme SoFic targets the switch‐I region of EF‐Tu for AMPylation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fic enzymes mediate diverse post‐translational modifications across all domains of life, including AMPylation. Prokaryotic EF‐Tu can be AMPylated and deAMPylated by the conserved Fic enzyme SoFic. Structural and biochemical approaches were used to characterize the effect of AMPylation on EF‐Tu, SoFic's enzymatic activities, and the enzyme‐target ...

An explicit expression of generating function for one-loop tensor reduction

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
This work introduces an explicit expression for the generating function for the reduction of an n-gon to an (n – k)-gon. A novel recursive relation of generating function is formulated based on Feynman Parametrization in projective space, involving a ...

ANALYTICAL EXPRESSIONS FOR LIGHT CURVES OF ORDINARY AND SUPERLUMINOUS TYPE Ia SUPERNOVAE

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2015
Supernovae of type Ia (SNe Ia) can be produced by the explosion of slowly rotating carbon–oxygen white dwarfs whose mass increases beyond a critical value by mass accretion. Collision with circumstellar material during their photospheric and early nebular phases can enhance the bolometric luminosity of otherwise ordinary SNe Ia to become superluminous.

The heterodimeric amino acid transporters (HAT) of the SLC7/SLC3 family: A structure−function relationships and relevance to human pathology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Heterodimeric amino acid transporters consist of SLC7 and SLC3 family proteins arranged in a conserved structural organization. They regulate nutrient transport across cell membranes, supporting essential cellular functions. These transporters also contribute to xenobiotic/drug uptake and distribution.

Music and Language in Ancient Verse: The Dynamics of an Antagonistic Concord

open access: yesHumanities, 2016
In antiquity, the relationship between “music”, “poetry”, and “language” was very different from the way they relate to each other today, for back then each of these mediums was endowed with a distinct, independent signifying code expressing a semiosis ...

Smaller is better: nanobodies meet NMR

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nanobodies are single‐domain antigen‐binding fragments derived from camelid heavy chain antibodies. Their small size, high stability, and exceptional specificity make nanobodies uniquely useful probes for NMR studies of protein dynamics, transient conformational states, and protein–protein interactions.

An empirical study of ordinary prayer [PDF]

open access: yes
The aim of the thesis is to demonstrate the significance of ordinary prayer for the study of ordinary theology, as conceived by Astley (2002), and to make an original contribution to research in this field.
