Comparison between Linear Regression and Robust Regression Models by Using Error Criteria and Information Criteria Applied to Human Sample

open access: yesZanco Journal of Humanity Sciences
Hypertension is a common and serious disease, and for this reason, a sample of patients was chosen from Azadi Teaching Hospital in Duhok. In this study a comparison was made between Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) with two robust methods Least Trimmed ...

Hospitalization Through Families’ Eyes: Comparing Inpatient Care Quality for Children With Sickle Cell Disease and Cystic Fibrosis in Canada

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a chronic, inherited hemoglobinopathy that requires frequent hospitalization for disease‐related complications. Canadian data on inpatient care is limited. This study compared caregiver‐reported hospital experiences of children with SCD to those with cystic fibrosis (CF), a chronic, autosomal recessive ...

Assessing Cognitive Functioning in Children With Brain Tumors: Interaction of Neighborhood Social Determinants of Health and Neurological Risk

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background This study investigated how neighborhood‐level social determinants of health (SDOH), including redlining and neurological risk, interact to influence cognitive outcomes in children treated for brain tumors (CTBT). Methods A retrospective chart review of 161 CTBT aged 5–17 was conducted.

Generalized Kibria-Lukman Estimator: Method, Simulation, and Application

open access: yesFrontiers in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, 2022
In the linear regression model, the multicollinearity effects on the ordinary least squares (OLS) estimator performance make it inefficient. To solve this, several estimators are given. The Kibria-Lukman (KL) estimator is a recent estimator that has been

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

New estimators in a partial linear model depending on an unbiased ridge regression estimator [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
This paper introduces two new estimators based on the philosophy of unbiased ridge regression estimation, where the parameters are part of a partial linear model suffering from multicollinearity.

Determinants of foreign direct investment in BRICS- does renewable and non-renewable energy matter?

open access: yesEnergy Strategy Reviews, 2021
The prime objective of the current research is to investigate factors affecting foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows into BRICS countries with a special focus on energy impact on FDI inflows from 1990 to 2018.

Ridge Regression and Ill-Conditioning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Hoerl and Kennard (1970) suggested the ridge regression estimator as an alternative to the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) estimator in the presence of multicollinearity.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

The efficiency of OLS estimator in the linear regression model with spatially correlated errors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Bounds for the efficiency of ordinary least squares relative to generalized least squares estimator in the linear regression model with first order spatial error process are ...
