Growth hormone binding sites in tilapia (Oreochromis mossambicus) liver

General and Comparative Endocrinology, 1992
125I-labeled bovine and tilapia growth hormones were used to assess the presence of growth hormone receptors in membranes prepared from tissues of the tilapia Oreochromis mossambicus. The highest level of specific binding was detected in liver membranes from animals of both sexes and the binding was protein-dependent.

Basolateral glucose transport by intestine of teleost, Oreochromis mossambicus

American Journal of Physiology-Regulatory, Integrative and Comparative Physiology, 1987
Transport characteristics of D-glucose by isolated basolateral membrane vesicles of the teleost fish, Oreochromis mossambicus, were measured. Specific activity of the vesicle Na-K-adenosinetriphosphatase was increased 11-fold, whereas specific activities of brush-border and organelle membrane enzymes were enriched only 0.3- to 0.8-fold.

Androgen levels and energy metabolism in Oreochromis mossambicus

Journal of Fish Biology, 2004
Two studies were conducted to test the relationship between androgens and routine metabolism in the Mozambique tilapia Oreochromis mossambicus. In the first study, endogenous levels of plasma levels of androgens and oxygen consumption rate were measured.

Temperature sensitivity of skeletal ontogeny in Oreochromis mossambicus

Journal of Fish Biology, 2004
Sensitivity of skeletal ontogenesis to temperature was assessed in Mozambican tilapia Oreochromis mossambicus and culture temperature manipulations (22, 27 and 32° C) were used to establish if age or length gave the most suitable metric for standardization.

Oreochromis mossambicus (tilapia) Corticotropin‐Releasing Hormone: cDNA Sequence and Bioactivity

Journal of Neuroendocrinology, 2000
Although hypothalamic corticotropin‐releasing hormone (CRH) is involved in the stress response in all vertebrate groups, only a limited number of studies on this neuroendocrine peptide deals with non‐mammalian neuroendocrine systems. We determined the cDNA sequence of the CRH precursor of the teleost Oreochromis mossambicus (tilapia) and studied the ...

Nonspecific immune responses ofCathranthus roseusinOreochromis mossambicus

Immunopharmacology and Immunotoxicology, 2011
The present study was performed to determine the efficacy and immune stimulatory effects of crude and water-soluble leaf fraction of Cathranthus roseus in Oreochromis mossambicus. Intraperitoneal injection method was used to administrate the drugs and Sheep Red Blood Cells (SRBC) which is used as an antigen.
