Tilapia (Oreochromis sp.) is a freshwater fish that is highly popular for aquaculture in Thailand. To achieve high yields, good growth rates, and better feed conversion rates, 17-alpha-methyltestosterone are commonly used to induce male sex in farmed tilapia.
