Rhythm Across Species: Situating Human Speech in a Comparative Framework

Effects of Classical Music on Behavioral and Physiological Stress Markers in Socially Isolated Prairie Voles

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, Volume 1563, Issue 1, September 2026.
Social isolation contributes to behavioral, physiological, and neuroendocrine dysfunction. In prairie voles, classical music exposure significantly reduced validated anxiety‐ and depression‐related behavioral responses and improved cardiac and endocrine measures as a function of chronic social isolation, with minor sex differences.
