TADF‐Type Organic Afterglow

Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2021
AbstractWe report a highly efficient dopant‐matrix afterglow system enabled by TADF mechanism to realize afterglow quantum yields of 60–70 %, which features a moderate rate constant for reverse intersystem crossing (kRISC) to simultaneously improve afterglow quantum yields and maintain afterglow emission lifetime.

Modulating Tri‐Mode Emission for Single‐Component White Organic Afterglow

Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2021
AbstractAchieving single‐component white organic afterglow remains a great challenge owing to the difficulties in simultaneously supporting long‐lived emissions from varied excited states of a molecule for complementary afterglow. Here, an extraordinary tri‐mode emission from the radiative decays of singlet (S1), triplet (T1), and stabilized triplet ...

Organic Afterglow Nanoparticles in Bioapplications

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2023
AbstractOrganic afterglow nanoparticles are unique optical materials that emit light long after cessation of excitation. Due to their advantages of no need for real‐time light excitation, avoiding autofluorescence, low imaging background, high signal‐to‐background ratio, deep tissue penetration, and high sensitivity, afterglow imaging technology has ...

Sonication‐Responsive Organic Afterglow Emulsions

Advanced Functional Materials, 2023
AbstractIn contrast to their fluorescence counterparts, stimuli‐responsive organic afterglow materials display distinct advantages to function normally in the presence of strong fluorescence background. However, most of the stimuli‐responsive afterglow materials can only work in their solid states with those in aqueous medium being rarely reported.

Host Surface-Induced Excitation Wavelength-Dependent Organic Afterglow

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2023
The design and construction of organic afterglow materials is an attractive but formidably challenging task due to the low intersystem crossing efficiency and nonradiative decay. Here, we developed a host surface-induced strategy to achieve excitation wavelength-dependent (Ex-De) afterglow emission through a facile dropping process.

Manipulation of Organic Afterglow by Thermodynamic and Kinetic Control

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2021
AbstractThe fabrication of room‐temperature organic phosphorescence and afterglow materials, as well as the transformation of their photophysical properties, has emerged as an important topic in the research field of luminescent materials. Here, we report the establishment of energy landscapes in dopant‐matrix organic afterglow systems where the ...

Afterglow Organic Light‐Emitting Diode

Advanced Materials, 2015
An afterglow organic light-emitting diode (OLED) that displays electroluminescence with long transient decay after it is turned off is demonstrated. This OLED exhibits blue and green dual emission originating from fluorescence and phosphorescence, respectively. A phosphorescence lifetime of 4.3 s is achieved.

Manipulation of Organic Afterglow in Fluoranthene‐Containing Dopant‐Matrix Systems: From Conventional Room‐Temperature Phosphorescence to Efficient Red TADF‐Type Organic Afterglow

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2023
AbstractIt remains challenging to fabricate highly‐efficient and long‐lived organic afterglow materials, especially in the case of red afterglow systems. Here we develop advanced charge transfer (CT) technology to boost afterglow efficiency and lifetimes in fluoranthene‐containing dopant‐matrix systems.
