Organic full-color narrowband afterglow

Materials Horizons
Developing a facile and universally applicable strategy to achieve organic full-color narrowband afterglow (OFNA) is highly desirable, as it meets the strategic demands for low-cost and high-color-purity displays in flexible electronics.

Narrowband Organic Afterglow Materials Exhibiting 11.2 nm FWHM, 38% Phosphorescence Efficiency and 1.5 s Emission Lifetime Under Ambient Conditions.

Angewandte Chemie
Narrowband organic room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) remains rare due to significant high-frequency vibronic coupling in T1→S0 electronic transition, where T1 and S0 represent the lowest triplet excited state and ground state, respectively. Here, we

Blue Organic Long Persistent Luminescence: A UV/Violet-Light-Excitable and Green/Red-Light-Erasable Donor-Sensitizer-Acceptor Organic Afterglow System.

Angewandte Chemie
We pioneered a donor-sensitizer-acceptor three-component system to devise organic long persistent luminescence (OLPL) materials, where the afterglow color is solely determined by sensitizer's emission color.

Phosphorescent Calcium-Based Metal–Organic Framework with Second-Scale Long Afterglow

Inorganic Chemistry, 2021
Presented here is a calcium-based metal-organic framework (Ca-MOF) with obvious room temperature phosphorescence. Notably, a long afterglow can be observed by the naked eye and lasts about 4 s, which is mainly attributed to the unique framework structure of the Ca-MOF.

Organic‐Inorganic Hybrid Ferroelectric and Antiferroelectric with Afterglow Emission

Angewandte Chemie
AbstractLuminescent ferroelectrics are holding exciting prospect for integrated photoelectronic devices due to potential light‐polarization interactions at electron scale. Integrating ferroelectricity and long‐lived afterglow emission in a single material would offer new possibilities for fundamental research and applications, however, related reports ...

Exciton Dissociation and Recombination Afford Narrowband Organic Afterglow Through Efficient FRET

Advances in Materials
Organic afterglow with long‐persistent luminescence (LPL) after photoexcitation is highly attractive, but the realization of narrowband afterglow with small full‐width at half‐maximum (FWHM) is a huge challenge since it is intrinsically contradictory to ...

Unusual room temperature afterglow in some crystalline organic compounds

Nature, 1978
STRONG room temperature phosphorescence studies of certain doped solid systems1–4 have shown that the characteristic phosphorescence peak wavelengths agree with those established for the corresponding dopants dissolved in 77K systems; the room temperature lifetimes being smaller by a factor of 1.5–2, depending upon the nature of the matrix.
