Halide‐Dependent Photoluminescence and Heavy‐Atom Effects in Low‐Melting Organic–Inorganic Manganese Halides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two pyridinium‐based ionic liquid templated hybrid manganese halides, (C4Py)2[MnCl4] and (C4Py)2[MnBr4], display similar bulk structures but show significantly different photoluminescence behaviors due to the bromine heavy‐atom effect. Their stable local Mn environments remain intact even in the molten state, allowing applications such as luminescence ...

LED receiver impedance and its effects on LED-LED visible light communications

open access: yes, 2017
This paper experimentally demonstrates that the AC impedance spectrum of the LED as a photodetector heavily depends on the received optical power, which may cause the impedance mismatch between the LED and the post trans-impedance amplifier.

Top-emitting organic light-emitting diodes

open access: yesOptics Express, 2011
We review top-emitting organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), which are beneficial for lighting and display applications, where non-transparent substrates are used. The optical effects of the microcavity structure as well as the loss mechanisms are discussed. Outcoupling techniques and the work on white top-emitting OLEDs are summarized. We discuss the

Establishing a Model Precursor System: Over a Decade of Research on Carbon Dots from the Citric Acid‐Urea System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The citric acid/urea (CA‐Urea) precursor system offers a versatile, scalable route to carbon dots with tunable luminescence and multifunctionality. Mechanistic insights into precursor chemistry and reaction parameters have enabled doping, surface modification, and hybridization strategies, yielding CDs for luminescent devices, sensing, catalysis ...

The Role of Ultra‐Thin Buffer Layers for Achieving Ultra‐Low Dark Currents in Single‐Component Organic Photodetectors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, SubNc single‐component organic photodiodes (SC‐OPDs) are investigated, which achieve highly competitive performance metrics, including high EQE, ultra‐low JD, and high specific detectivity (D*). This study emphasizes the critical role of an organic buffer layer in studying the interface energetics and effects to achieve state‐of‐the‐art ...

Contrast-enhancement in organic light-emitting diodes

open access: yesOptics Express, 2005
A high-contrast organic light-emitting diode (OLED) structure is presented. Because of poor contrast of conventional OLED resulting from high reflective metal cathode, the hybrid cathode structure was developed for low reflectivity. It consists the semitransparent cathode layers, passivation layers and a thick light-absorbing film.
