Content and Organization of a Scientific Paper [PDF]
This section is placed at the beginning of a manuscript and must convey everything presented: what the research was about, where, why and how it was conducted and what it means relative to the current state of knowledge. It should consist of one paragraph of 250 or fewer words (i.e., no more than 3% of length of manuscript).

The Retention of Organic Solvents in Paper
Journal of the American Institute for Conservation, 1980Abstract The retention of organic solvents in solvent-treated papers has been explored using gas chromatography. Results suggest that moisture in the atmosphere will displace retained solvents completely in a few hours under an ordinary environment. A related study of the sorption of thymol vapors by paper indiCates that thymol also is not retained ...

Paper Chromatography of Organic Acids
Nature, 1954GLYCONIC acids, glycaric acids and glycuronic acids and certain related hydroxy acids show a marked tendency to produce streaked spots on paper chromatograms. This may be eliminated by incorporating in the developing solvent certain organic acids such as formic acid or acetic acid1 to suppress ionization of the carboxyl group.

Organization of a Scientific Paper
The Canadian Entomologist, 1951Good organization of a scientific paper benefits both the writer and the reader. It enables the author to develop his subject systematically and logically, and to attain his objective with greater clarity, brevity, and emphasis. It provides the reader with a plan that he can follow and so keeps him attuned throughout to the writer's thought sequence ...

"Papereality" and Learning in Bureaucratic Organizations
Administration & Society, 1998This article argues that organizations create, maintain, and live by "papereality, " defined as a world of symbols, a particular form of representation that takes precedence over the things and events represented. If so, what is written down as official can be an important guide to and constraint on behavior in organizations.

Organic TFT Array on a Paper Substrate
IEEE Electron Device Letters, 2004We demonstrate a high-performance organic thin-film transistor array fabricated on a flexible paper substrate. As a water and chemical barrier layer, 6-/spl mu/m-thick parylene has been coated on the paper substrate by using the vacuum deposition. The parylene layer protects the paper substrate from becoming damp during the wet chemical process.

Organic electronics and e-paper
58th DRC. Device Research Conference. Conference Digest (Cat. No.00TH8526), 2002Summary form only given. Plastic thin film transistors (TFT) offer the potential to be fabricated using low cost manufacturing techniques, e.g. lamination, printing, and reel-to-reel processing. Possible applications include displays, large area electronics, radio-frequency identification tags, sensors, and toys.

Organic Solar Cells on Paper Substrates
Advanced Materials Technologies, 2019AbstractThe fabrication of organic solar cells on paper substrate is attractive as it paves the way for roll‐to‐roll‐processed modules on more ecologically friendly substrates. A paper‐substrate solar‐cell process is successfully demonstrated. Commercially available paper with coatings from the polyvinyl family of materials is made suitable for ...

Paper Shredder as a mediating technology of organization
2019This chapter shows how the paper shredder mediates aspects of confidentiality, transparency, and secrecy in organizations. Following Susan Star Leigh’s ‘tricks of the trade’, it conceptualizes the paper shredder as material infrastructure and retraces its organizing force and effects. This brings into view virtuous as well as vicious practices in which
