Optimization of Overcritical Organic Rankine Cycle

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2016
This paper explores the optimization cases for overcritical Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) in various situations. First the ORC optimization in terms of working fluid selection is discussed. In this case, thermal efficiencies for 10 different working fluids have been calculated under certain temperature frames and the results are compared.

The Organic Rankine Cycle

2013
Chap. 3 is dedicated to Rankine cycles with organic fluids: the so-called organic Rankine cycles (ORC), which in recent years have had a large success on the market. After a brief historical review we discuss the characteristics that must have the potential working fluids to be used in an ORC engine. A large discussion is about the interactions between

Comparative Performance Analysis of Combined Power Systems Trilateral Cycle-Organic Rankine Cycle (TLC-ORC) and Organic Rankine Cycle Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC-ORC)

2021

Comparison of trilateral cycles and organic Rankine cycles

Energy, 2011
A comparison of optimized trilateral cycle (TLC) - systems with water as working fluid and optimized organic Rankine cycle (ORC) – systems with pure organic working fluids is presented. The study includes the heat transfer to and from the cycles. The TLC - systems were optimized by the selection of the maximum water temperature, the ORC - systems by ...

Innovative Research in the Organic Rankine Cycle

Impact, 2020
Thermodynamic cycles consist of a sequence of thermodynamic processes involving the transfer of heat and work into and then out of a system. Variables, such as pressure and temperature, eventually return the system to its initial state. During the process of passing through the system, the working fluid converts heat and disposes of any remaining heat,

Technical options for Organic Rankine Cycle systems

2017
The plant components and the plant configurations adopted in the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) field differ appreciably from the solutions used in large steam cycles because of the different nature of the working fluid and the type of heat source. ORCs are rarely fueled by fossil fuels, they usually work at relatively low temperatures, and they are ...

Performance characteristics of organic Rankine cycles

International Journal of Ambient Energy, 1984
SYNOPSIS The organic Rankine cycle is one of the most promising techniques for production of mechanical power from low temperature sources such as solar heated fluids, geothermal brines and industrial waste heat. A series of cycle performance calculations has been carried out for a broad range of working fluids including Refrigerant 12, isobutane ...

Pumping work in the organic Rankine cycle

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2013
Abstract Calculation results for the pumping work in the ORC systems are presented. Analysis has been carried out for 18 different organic fluids that can be used as working media in the subcritical ORC power plants. An attempt was made to find correlations between various thermo-physical properties of working fluids, specific work and power of the ...
