Comparison of trilateral cycles and organic Rankine cycles

Energy, 2011
A comparison of optimized trilateral cycle (TLC) - systems with water as working fluid and optimized organic Rankine cycle (ORC) – systems with pure organic working fluids is presented. The study includes the heat transfer to and from the cycles. The TLC - systems were optimized by the selection of the maximum water temperature, the ORC - systems by ...

Performance Analysis of Supercritical Organic Rankine Cycles

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
Supercritical Rankine cycles using organic fluids as working fluids in converting low-grade energy to high-grade power energy are investigated in the study. The main purpose is to identify suitable working fluids which may yield high system efficiencies in a supercritical Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) system.

Performance characteristics of organic Rankine cycles

International Journal of Ambient Energy, 1984
SYNOPSIS The organic Rankine cycle is one of the most promising techniques for production of mechanical power from low temperature sources such as solar heated fluids, geothermal brines and industrial waste heat. A series of cycle performance calculations has been carried out for a broad range of working fluids including Refrigerant 12, isobutane ...

Thermo-economic comparisons between solar steam Rankine and organic Rankine cycles

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2016
Abstract Among all concentrated solar power technologies, plants with parabolic trough collector and steam Rankine cycle are the most matured and established technology. Organic Rankine cycle is a promising option for modular scale power plants with low temperature heat sources.

Theoretical investigation on advanced Organic Rankine Cycles

2013
This work investigates the use of advanced organic Rankine cycle designs to exploit a low temperature and a medium grade energy source represented by a solar application and waste heat from a marine diesel engine, respectively. Regarding the latter, we consider two different operating points: full load and at 60 % load.
