Enantioselective Esterification Of (±)-Menthol With Butyric Anhydride By Chemically Modified Candida Rugosa Lipase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Commercial lipase from Candida rugosa was chemically modified with the aim to improve its catalytic properties in organic solvents. The chemical modifiers, aldehydes and monomethoxy polyethylene glycols, were covalently linked to the lysine residues ...

Kinetics of hydroformylation of 1-octene in ionic liquid-organic biphasic media using rhodium sulfoxantphos catalyst [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Biphasic hydroformylation of 1-octene was performed using rhodium sulfoxantphos catalyst dissolved in [BuPy][BF4] ionic liquid. Preliminary experiments proved this system to retain the catalytic complex within the ionic liquid phase and to maintain a ...

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

SOLVENT POLARITY AND INTERNAL STRESSES CONTROL THE SWELLING BEHAVIOUR OF GREEN WOOD DURING DEHYDRATION IN ORGANIC SOLUTION

open access: yesBioResources, 2012
The dimensional variations of green wood samples induced by organic solvents have been studied. The solvents used (ethanol, isopropanol, acetone, and acetonitrile) covered a wide range of polarity and were studied pure and in aqueous solutions over a ...

Chemo- and Stereoselective Reduction of Polyfunctional Carbonyl Compounds by Mucor rouxii

open access: yesMolecules, 2000
Several polyfunctional carbonyl compounds, such as α- and β-ketoesters, were chemo- and stereoselectively reduced by Mucor rouxii cultures in water and in organic solvents.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Activity coefficients for liquid organic reactions : towards a better understanding of true kinetics with the synthesis of jasmin aldehyde as showcase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The aldol condensation of benzaldehyde and heptanal is taken as an example of reversible liquid phase organic reactions to show that inclusion of activity coefficients reveal distinct differences in conversion and product distribution when different ...

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.
