Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) in the Study of Thermal Reactions of Organo-Clay Complexes

2003
A comprehensive review of DTA of organo-clays has recently been published by Langier-Kuzniarowa (2001). We therefore decided that this chapter should not be just a collection of data from the literature but rather, a critical overview.

INTERACTION OF BTPYRIDYLIUM HERBICIDES WITH ORGANO‐CLAY COMPLEX

Journal of Soil Science, 1973
Summary The adsorption of diquat (1,1′‐ethylene‐2,2′‐bipyridylium dibromide) and paraquat (1, 1′‐dimethyl‐4,4′‐dipyridylium dichloride) by an organo‐clay complex has been investigated. Paraquat was adsorbed by the organo‐clay complex in greater amounts than was diquat.

ORGANO-CLAY COMPLEXES IN SOURCE ROCKS---A NATURAL MATERIAL FOR HYDROCARBON GENERATION

Marine Geology & Quaternary Geology, 2013
Traditionally,it is believed that kerogen,a organic matter insoluble in organic solvents separated chemically from source rock,is a material for hydrocarbon generation[1].The procedure to treat samples as such, however, may destroy the original occurrence and relationship between organic matter and clay in source rocks. We extracted an organo-clay complex(

Adsorption by Organo-Clay Complexes—Part 2

Clays and clay minerals (National Conference on Clays and Clay Minerals), 1961
AbstractA detailed investigation of the adsorption of phenol and m-cresol from dilute aqueous solution by dodecyl- and tetradecylammonium bentonites has been carried out. The Freundlich isotherms for the tetradecylammonium bentonite system indicate that during adsorption, the process proceeds in two stages, the partial molar heat of adsorption changing

The adsorption of berberine by montmorillonite and thermo-XRD analysis of the organo-clay complex

Clay Minerals, 2005
AbstractThe adsorption of the large cationic alkaloid berberine by montmorillonite in aqueous suspensions was investigated. An adsorption isotherm of berberine and desorption isotherms of exchangeable Na+, K+, Mg2+ and Ca2+ were determined by chemical analysis of the non-adsorbed berberine and the released cations in the supernatants.

BTEX Sorption by Organo‐Clays: Cosorptive Enhancement and Equivalence of Interlayer Complexes

Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1996
Abstract Aqueous organic contaminants, such as gasoline‐derived aromatics, are effectively sorbed by organo‐clays. Organo‐clays were prepared from montmorillonite (SWy‐1, SAz‐1) and vermiculite (VSC) clay minerals by exchanging quaternary, alkylammonium cations for the inorganic exchange cations; thus, a variety of clay‐charge/organic‐

Gas Chromatographic Separation of Stereoisomeric Trichloroheptanes using Organo-clay Complexes

Nature, 1965
SINCE White1 has shown that dimethyldioctadecyl ammonium bentonite is particularly suitable as a stationary phase for the chromatographic separation of aromatic and aliphatic compounds, several authors have shown the ability of this material to separate aromatic isomers, for example, xylenes, toluidines, cresols2, dichlorobenzenes3.

Distribution, Fate and Formation of Non-Extractable Residues of a Nonylphenol Isomer in Soil With Special Emphasis on Soil Derived Organo-Clay Complexes

Journal of Environmental Science and Health - Part B Pesticides, Food Contaminants, and Agricultural Wastes, 2011
Anthropogenic contaminants like nonylphenols (NP) are added to soil, for instance if sewage-sludge is used as fertilizer in agriculture. A commercial mixture of NP consists of more than 20 isomers. For our study, we used one of the predominate isomers of NP mixtures, 4-(3,5-dimethylhept-3-yl)phenol, as a representative compound.

The Study of Physical and Chemical Characteristics of Organo-Clay Complexes of the Chronosequence of Albic Retisols Using Dynamic Light Scattering and Phase Analysis Light Scattering

Eurasian Soil Science, 2020
Dynamic light scattering (DLS) and phase analysis light scattering (PALS) have been used to study the physical and chemical characteristics of organo-clay complexes of soddy-podzolic soils (Albic Retisols (Loamic, Cutanic, Differentic, Ochric)) of forest sites of the Central Forest Reserve.
