Combined DTA — mass spectrometry of organo-clay complexes
Journal of Thermal Analysis, 1990DTA and EGA curves of montmorillonite and laponite treated with three metachromic dyes and of sepiolite and palygorskite treated with butylamine and pyridine were described, focussing on the contribution of the EGA to the interpretation of the different DTA peaks.

An Organo-Clay Complex for the Separation of Isomeric Dichlorobenzenes Using Gas Chromatography
Nature, 1961WHITE1 has shown that dimethyldioctadecyl ammonium bentonite is particularly suitable as a stationary phase for the chromatographic separation of aromatic and aliphatic compounds, while Hughes, White and Roberts2 have shown that this material is equally suitable for the separation of isomeric xylenes, toluidines and cresols.

Microporous and Mesoporous Materials, 1998
A series of mesoporous synthetic organo-clay complexes has been prepared by hydrothermal crystallization of gels containing silica, magnesium hydroxide, lithium fluoride, and an organic of choice, followed by calcination to remove the organics. The organic serves to impart structural order to the inorganic network that does not disappear upon its ...

The surfactant-modified bentonite has been focused on the adsorption of hydrophobic organic contaminants in aqueous solutions, because the surfactant (e.g. quaternary alkylammonium salt) intercalation leads to the formation of highly hydrophobic domains.

Two-dimensional molecular ordering of Os(
An ordered structure of [OsL(3)](2+)(L = 2, 2'-bipyridine or 1, 10-phenanthroline) layer in an ultrathin film composed of the complex cations, clay nanosheets and alkylammonium cations is reported on the basis of its in-plane X-ray diffraction and polarized electronic spectral data.

The incorporation process of a defined (13)C- and (14)C-labeled nonylphenol isomer (4-(3,5-dimethylhept-3-yl)phenol) into soil-derived organo-clay complexes was investigated. Isolated organo-clay complexes were separated into humic subfractions. Noninvasive ((13)C-CP/MAS NMR) and invasive methods (sequential chemical degradation, pyrolysis) were ...

Differential thermal analysis (DTA) of organo-clay complexes
2005DTA is used in the study of organo-clay complexes. Curves are recorded either in oxidizing or reducing environments. For the interpretation of the different peaks DTA is usually supplemented by TG and in recent years also by EGA. Most DTA curves can be divided into three regions: (I) the region of the dehydration of the clay; (II) the region of the ...

Organo-clay complexes in soil are a major sink for xenobiotics and, thus, often enhance their persistence dramatically. However, the knowledge on environmental processes of non-extractable residue formation on a short time scale is very restricted. Therefore, this study examined the distribution of 4-(3,5-dimethylhept-3-yl)phenol (NP) and 4-chloro-2 ...

The chiral Mn(III) salen complex (C1) was immobilised onto a natural clay (BEN) and a porous clay heterostructure (PCH) functionalised with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES). FTIR, XPS and Mn chemical analysis confirm the C1 anchorage in both materials, but with higher efficiency in BEN_APTES clay.

Distribution and characterization of organo-clay complexes in selected Lower Fraser Valley soils
2011In the study of the distribution of organo-clay complexes, thirty-four samples representing eight soil types were collected from the Lower Fraser Valley and the effectiveness of the three methods, viz. simple dispersion, insonation and chelating resin were examined.
