ORGANOCLORATED AND ORGANOPHOSPHORUS PESTICIDES IN THE PELOTAS RIVER SEDIMENT [PDF]
Aquatic sediments are widely used for the evaluation of anthropogenic contamination due to their ability to adsorb particles and contaminants, making them historical environmental archives.

Abstract Efforts to use transcriptomics for toxicity testing have classically relied on the assumption that chemicals consistently produce characteristic transcriptomic signatures that are reflective of their mechanism of action. However, the degree to which transcriptomic responses are conserved across different test methodologies has seldom been ...

Benchmarking gut microbiome indices within and across populations
We compared 10 widely used gut microbiome indices in 12,561 American Gut Project participants and 10 external cohorts, testing how well each distinguished people with healthy lifestyles, responded to 79 environmental factors, and associated with 14 chronic conditions. No single index performed best on all three tasks.

Short term fasting does not aggravate immunosuppression in harbour seals (Phoca vitulina) with high body burdens of organochlorines [PDF]
Two groups of 11 harbour seals (Phoca vitulina) with different body burdens of organochlorines were subjected to an experimental 15-day fasting period, during which they lost an average 16.5% of their body weights.

Nanoplastics: Methods, Exposure and Effects on Domestic, Farm and Wild Animals
ABSTRACT Nanoplastics (NPs) are synthetic polymer particles ranging in size from 1 nm to 1 μm that have been identified as a major concern for ecosystems and organisms due to their plethora of negative effects. The aim of this review is to provide a comprehensive overview of the knowledge relating to exposure and effects of NPs in domestic (i.e., farm ...

ABSTRACT Chlorothalonil (CHL) is a widely used organochlorine fungicide frequently detected in environmental and food matrices. Although increasing evidence indicates adverse effects in nontarget species, the mechanisms underlying CHL‐induced male reproductive toxicity remain incompletely understood.

The use of stable chlorine isotopic signatures (δ37Cl) of organochlorine compounds has been suggested as a tool to determine both their origins and transformations in the environment. Here we investigated the δ37Cl fractionation of two important pathways
