Influence of modifying organoclay on the properties of natural rubber/organoclay nanocomposites
Journal of Composite Materials, 2013Montmorillonite nanoclay was modified with octadecylamine and compounded with natural rubber by the melt mixing method. Influence of the modification on the properties of natural rubber/organoclay nanocomposites was investigated. Furthermore, structures of the natural rubber/clay nanocomposites were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning ...

Organoclay-enzyme film electrodes
Analytica Chimica Acta, 2006This paper aims at showing the interest of organoclays (clay minerals containing organic groups covalently attached to the inorganic particles) as suitable host matrices likely to immobilize enzymes onto electrode surfaces for biosensing applications. The organoclays used in this work were natural Cameroonian smectites grafted with either aminopropyl ...

Rheology of organoclay suspension
Colloid and Polymer Science, 2011We have studied the rheological properties of clay suspensions in silicone oil, where clay surfaces were modified with three different types of surfactants. Dynamic oscillation measurements showed a plateau-like behavior for all the organoclay suspensions studied, which indicated more solid-like characteristics.

PAHs (naphthalene) removal from stormwater runoff by organoclay amended pervious concrete
Construction and Building Materials, 2019Stormwater runoff increasingly induces contaminants to the groundwater to imperil the sustainable development of human society. Pavement can be considered as the first line of defense for contaminant removal of the stormwater runoff.

We have examined thermal characteristics of two types of organically modified montmorillonite (OMMT) with different alkylammonium cations and their effects upon the formation of PP nanocomposite, when using a maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene oligomer (maPP) as a compatibilizer.

AbstractTo have an improved insight about the compatibilization effect of organoclay on immiscible polymers, two different organoclays and preparation techniques were chosen to prepare polyamide6 (PA6)/polystyrene (PS)/organoclay ternary nanocomposites. The morphology analysis based on the results of X‐ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy,
