Effect of organoclay-type and clay-polyurethane interaction chemistry for tuning the morphology, gas barrier and mechanical properties of clay/polyurethane nanocomposites

Applied Clay Science, 2018
Organo-modified montmorillonite (Mt) and bentonite reinforced clay/polyurethane nanocomposite (CPN) films were produced by master-batch based melt-mixing route, followed by compression molding.

Effects of processing steps and organoclay content in butadiene rubber/organoclay nanocomposites

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2013
AbstractEven though polybutadiene rubber (BR) is a hydrophobic polymer, BR/organoclay nanocomposites are prepared successfully without a compatibilizer by using conventional compounding method. The main objective of this article is to investigate the effect of processing steps on the dispersion of organoclays in the BR matrix.

Effect of organoclay content on thermal stability properties of polypropylene/organoclay nanocomposites

Journal of Thermoplastic Composite Materials, 2019
Nanocomposites composed of polypropylene (PP), organoclay, ethylene acrylic acid (EAA), and maleic anhydride-grafted polypropylene (PP- g-MA) were prepared using the melt mixing technique, and their thermal stability properties were investigated. PP- g-MA and EAA were used as compatibilizers in the nanocomposites.

The effect of reduced graphene oxide intercalated hybrid organoclay on the dielectric properties of polyvinylidene fluoride nanocomposite films

Applied Clay Science, 2018
In present investigation, reduced graphene oxide sandwiched organoclay (Clay@r-GO) was introduced as conductive nanofillers to promote the electroactive β-phase as well as conducting network within polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) via solution casting ...

Adsorption of Xylene by Organoclays

Clays and Clay Minerals, 1975
AbstractBased on X-ray powder diffraction measurements of swelling, thermodynamic analysis of adsorption and kinetics, a mechanism of interaction between xylene isomers and two organoclay complexes was derived. The work is intended to resolve the factors which make possible the chromatographic separation of the xylene isomers with organoclays ...

Using organoclays to enhance carbon filtration

Waste Management, 2000
Organoclays have found increased acceptance as pre-treatment for activated carbon adsorption systems in both groundwater and wastewater cleanup. The reason is that activated carbon tends to become quickly blinded by large organic molecules of low solubility, particularly oils. However, it is also well established that activated carbon is more efficient
