Effect of Organoclay on Morphology, Barrier Properties, and Aerobic Biodegradation of Poly(Lactic Acid)/Natural Rubber Nanocomposites

open access: yesSPE Polymers, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2026.
Morphology, water vapor permeability, and aerobic biodegradation of poly(lactic acid)/natural rubber/Cloisite 30B nanocomposites. ABSTRACT In this work, the correlation of morphology, water vapor permeability (WVP), and organoclay (Cloisite 30B, C30B) concentration on the aerobic biodegradation of poly(lactic acid) (PLA)/natural rubber (NR)/C30B was ...

Effect of Surface Modified Halloysite Nanotubes (HNTs) on Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Polylactic Acid/HNTs Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvances in Polymer Technology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
In this study, polylactic acid (PLA) nanocomposites reinforced with halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) were fabricated via melt extrusion followed by compression molding. Surface modification of HNTs was conducted using polyethyleneimine (PEI) and PN40 to improve interfacial interaction and dispersion of HNTs within the PLA matrix.

Mechanical Recycling of Silicone Rubber: Influence of Particle Size and Quantity

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, Volume 65, Issue 11, Page 6207-6216, November 2025.
Silicone rubbers of three different hardnesses were ground into particles and used as fillers in a liquid silicone rubber matrix, whereby the particle size and quantity varied. The mechanical properties were only slightly altered by the addition of ground particles and showed the general possibility of mechanical silicone recycling.
