Preparations of Metal Trichalcogenophosphonates from Organophosphonate Esters

Inorganic Chemistry, 2012
A new method for the preparation of metal trichalcogenophosphonates is presented wherein organophosphonate esters are first reduced with LiAlH(4) and subsequently treated with an organometallic reagent and elemental sulfur or selenium to give the desired trichalcogenophosphonate complex.

SYNTHESIS OF POLYFUNCTIONAL ORGANOPHOSPHONATE LIGANDS

Solvent Extraction and Ion Exchange, 1989
ABSTRACT Bifunctional and polyfunctional ligands are finding increasing applications in metal ion liquid-liquid extraction processes, and there is interest in developing more rational design parameters to assist in the construction of ion specific ligand systems.

Fluorescent organophosphonates as inhibitors of microbial lipases

Chemistry and Physics of Lipids, 2003
Short- and long-chain 1-O-alkyl-2-acylaminodeoxyglycero- and alkoxy-alkylphosphonic acid p-nitrophenyl esters were synthesized as inhibitors for analytical and mechanistic studies on lipolytic enzymes. The respective compounds contain perylene or nitrobenzoxadiazole as reporter fluorophores covalently bound to the omega-ends of the respective 2 ...

Photophysical Properties of New Terbium (III) Organophosphonates

Journal of Fluorescence, 2006
This paper reports on the synthesis, characterization and photophysical properties of the Tb3+ organophosphonates, TbH(O3PR)2, methylphosphonate (R = CH3), ethylphosphonate (R = C2H5), propylphosphonate (R = C3H7), and phenylphosphonate (R = C6H5). The layered Tb3+ organophosphonates were characterized by X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, TG and ...

Non-molecular monovalent metal organophosphonates and diphosphonates

Journal of Solid State Chemistry, 2019
Abstract The solid state chemistry of non-molecular monovalent metal organophosphonates and diphosphonates is relatively new and evolving research arena. The syntheses and structural characterization of about fifty such compounds are reported in the literature.

Utilisation of structurally diverse organophosphonates by Streptomycetes

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2003
A group of streptomycete strains was found able to utilise a wide range of structurally diverse phosphonates as a sole phosphorus source. No relation could be observed between ability to synthesise compounds containing a direct carbon-to-phosphorus (C-P) bond and biodegradative potential towards phosphonates in the strains studied.

Acetylcholinesterase mutants: oxime-assisted catalytic scavengers of organophosphonates.

Chemico-biological interactions, 2004
instead abstract, part of the Introduction: Reaction of organophosphonates with acetylcholinesterase (AChE ; EC 3.1.1.7) is characterized by the formation of serine-conjugated adducts that are only slowly reversible. Since oximes are the only known antidote to nerve agent poisoning that restore the activity of AChE, mutagenesis of AChE should enable ...

Heterocyclic Amine Derivatives of Zinc Organophosphonates

Chemistry of Materials, 2004
A series of novel zinc(II) organophosphonates with coordinated 2,2‘-bipyridyl (2,2‘-bipy, C10H8N2) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen, C12H8N2) ligands (with the proposed formulations:  Zn(O3PC6H5)(C12H8N2), Zn2(O3PR)2(C12H8N2) (R = C6H5CH2, C2H5, CH3), and Zn2(O3PR)2(C10H8N2)(H2O) (R = C6H5, C6H5CH2)) has been prepared and characterized.

Microbial degradation of organophosphonates by soil bacteria

Microbiology, 2008
Bacteria that can utilize glyphosate (GP) or methylphosphonic acid (MPA) as a sole phosphorus source have been isolated from soil samples polluted with organophosphonates (OP). No matter which of these compounds was predominant in the native habitat of the strains, all of them utilized methylphosphonate.
