Engineering a Mesoporous Silicon Nanoparticle Cage to Enhance Performance of a Phosphotriesterase Enzyme for Degradation of VX Nerve Agent

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 11, Issue 48, December 26, 2024.
A porous silicon nanocage encapsulating phosphotriesterase variant L7ep‐3a is evaluated for nerve agent detoxification. By tuning the physicochemical properties of the enzyme–porous silicon nanoconstruct, enhanced catalytic activity, and operational stability are achieved compared to the free enzyme.

Mono‐Exponential Current Attenuation with Distance Across 16 nm Thick Bacteriorhodopsin Multilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 34, Issue 48, November 26, 2024.
Electronic charge transport through multilayers of the protein bacteriorhodopsin (bR) shows an intriguing, mono‐exponential conductance attenuation with layer thickness up to ≈16 nm. A measured small attenuation coefficient β ≈ 0.8 nm−1 indicates efficient long‐range transport, which is mostly limited by charge injection at the interfaces. Abstract The

Hydrophosphorylation of Alkenes with Dialkyl Phosphites Catalyzed by Mn(III) under Air [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A facile method for the synthesis of organophosphonates from alkenes and dialkyl phosphites was developed by the use of Mn(II) under air. Thus, the reaction of 1-octene with diethyl phosphite in the presence of Mn(OAc)2 (5 mol %) under air at 90 °C led ...

Catalytic Activation of Bis(2,2,2‐trifluoroethyl) Phosphite with Hf(IV) for the Synthesis of Mixed Dialkyl Phosphites

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 366, Issue 18, Page 3822-3828, September 17, 2024.
Abstract We developed a second generation of Lewis acid catalyst enabling selective and user‐friendly phosphonylation of diverse alcohols. This one‐pot method utilizes P(III) reagent bis(2,2,2–trifluoroethyl) phosphite under mild conditions. Exploring the influence of metal selection in Lewis acid catalysts revealed four highly active complexes for ...

Control and management of Phytophthora damage in forestry—A systematic mapping study

open access: yesForest Pathology, Volume 54, Issue 4, August 2024.
Abstract Plant pathogens in the genus Phytophthora are a severe threat to forest plantations, ecosystems and tree nurseries. Especially in forests and natural ecosystems, there is a lack of effective measures to control and manage these pathogens. In this study, we conducted a systematic mapping review to collate evidence regarding the control and ...

Aggregation/Crystallization‐Induced Emission in Naphthyridine‐Based Carbazolyl‐Modified Donor‐Acceptor Boron Dyes Tunable by Fluorine Atoms

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 30, Issue 22, April 16, 2024.
Four solid‐state luminescent donor‐acceptor boron difluoride complexes based on the carbazole electron donor and [1,3,5,2]oxadiazaborinino[3,4‐a][1,8]naphthyridine acceptor were designed and synthesized. These dyes exhibit aggregation‐induced emission and reversible mechanofluorochromism.
