Oriental and European beech spectral, traits and genetics data

2023
The dataset includes leaf spectroscopy, leaf traits and genetic data for oriental and european beech trees at two mature forest sites (Allenwiller in France and Wäldi in Switzerland) sampled in summer 2021 and 2022 for top and bottom of canopy leaves.

Local 3D fibre orientation for tensile strength prediction of European beech timber

Construction and Building Materials, 2021
Abstract In central Europe forests, the share of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) trees has been increased in the last decades. Machine strength grading of hardwood is challenging due to a lack of knowledge about strength predictors. However, high strength classes are needed for the utilization as glued and cross laminated timber.

Oriental beech decline caused by Brenneria alni

Forest Pathology
AbstractHyrcanian forests comprise a long strip along the southern coast of the Caspian Sea in northern Iran. Oriental beech (Fagus orientalis) is one of the most valuable forest tree species in the Hyrcanian forests. Bark necrosis and bleeding spots of oriental beech were observed in Savadkuh forests in Mazandaran province during summer 2021.

SURFACE CHARACTERISTICS OF HEATED AND VARNISHED ORIENTAL BEECH AFTER ACCELERATED WEATHERING

2020
This study was performed to investigate some surface characteristics such as surface hardness, surface roughness, and color changes of heated and varnished Oriental beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky) after accelerated weathering. Heat treatment of Oriental beech wood was carried out by hot air in an oven for 0.5, 1, and 1.5 h at 210, 220, and 230 degrees ...

Physical properties of Scots pine and Oriental beech treated with water repellents

Wood Material Science & Engineering
Water repellents resist water on the wood surface, contributing to the longer service life of the wood material owing to reduced water uptake and biological attack. This study was carried out to compare water-repellent substances with each other in terms of water absorption, weathering, surface roughness, and contact angle. Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris)

COMBUSTION CHARACTERISTICS OF ORIENTAL BEECH WOOD IMPREGNATED WITH COMMONLY USED BORATES

2020
This study was conducted to determine combustion characteristics of Oriental beech impregnated with commonly used borates. Average mass loss and temperature values of Oriental beech wood were determined according to ASTM-E 160-50 (1975) after combustion test. Boric acid (BA) and borax (BX), and sodium perborate (SP) were used as borates. The combustion

Comparison of differently originated oriental beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky) seedling growth in field

2015
It is not possible to make artificial regeneration and afforestation areas optimum totally because of the fact that site area conditions have very different characteristics regionally. Based on these ecological conditions where seed origins and application area should be considered.
