Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Discrete Exterior Calculus [PDF]
This thesis presents the beginnings of a theory of discrete exterior calculus (DEC). Our approach is to develop DEC using only discrete combinatorial and geometric operations on a simplicial complex and its geometric dual.

Three-dimensional, arbitrary orientation of focal polarization
S.4479-4482We demonstrate a simple setup for generating a three-dimensional arbitrary orientation of the polarization vector in a laser focus. The key component is the superposition of a linearly and a radially polarized laser beam, which both can be ...

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Direct Torque Control of Induction Machines Using Space Vector Modulation
A control scheme for direct torque and flux control of induction machines based on the stator flux field orientation method is proposed. With the proposed predictive control scheme, an inverter duty cycle is directly based on the torque and flux errors ...

Petri Net-Based Specification of Cyber-Physical Systems Oriented to Control Direct Matrix Converters With Space Vector Modulation [PDF]
This paper proposes a Petri-net-based specification of cyber-physical systems dedicated to the control of a direct matrix converter with space vector modulation (SVM) and transistor commutation. The technique employed is further applied for hardware implementation in a programmable logic device [namely, field-programmable gate array (FPGA)].

Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.
