Peptide ormosils as cellular substrates

Journal of Materials Chemistry, 2007
Peptide-functionalized thin films exhibit significant potential for integration into implantable devices and cell-based technologies. A new type of neuroactive peptide-modified silica was developed using sol–gel reaction chemistry to produce thin films from four different peptide silane precursors.

Anti-fouling nano-Ag/SiO2 ormosil treatments for building materials: The role of cell-surface interactions on toxicity and bioreceptivity

, 2021
Protective coatings with hydrophobic or biocide properties are commonly employed to prevent biofouling of building materials exposed to the environment. Although the factors affecting bioreceptivity of the base materials are well known, the influence of ...

Tribological properties of ormosil coatings

Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology, 1996
Transparent plastics are not scratch resistant. The damage leads to a loss of optical properties. Coatings prepared using either tetraethoxysilane or colloidal silica particles embedded in “glymo” is a way to avoid these disadvantages. Tribological experiments are carried out to better understand the surface modification due to a sliding friction.

Preparation of SiO2 nanoparticles with adjustable size for fabrication of SiO2/PMHS ORMOSIL superhydrophobic surface on cellulose-based substrates

, 2020
Silica (SiO2) nanoparticles with controlled particle size and poly(methylhydrogen)siloxane (PMHS) were applied to fabricate superhydrophobic SiO2/PMHS ORMOSIL (organically modified silicate) coating on cellulose-based substrates (wood, cotton and filter ...

Dynamic studies of Ormosil membranes

Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 2008
Abstract With the help of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and quasi-elastic neutron scattering (QENS) we have carried out dynamic studies of Ormosil membranes presenting protonic conductivity properties. These nanocomposite hybrid materials prepared by sol–gel process are based on an organic–inorganic network [polymer chains (poly(propylene glycol),

Multifunctional ORMOSIL and PAA nanoparticles

SPIE Proceedings, 2009
Various problems arising during molecular imaging of different fluoroprobes and metabolites used in PDT can be circumvented by focusing on multifunctional therapy agents. Thus an effective photo sensitizer coupled with other useful roles to play in PDT treatment make nanoparticles as a good vehicle for different delivery assuming multifunctional ...

Two Photon Polymerization of Ormosils

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010
In this work, 3D structures of hybrid polymers—ORMOSILS (organically modified silicates) were produced via Two Photon Polymerization (2PP) of hybrid methacrylates based on silane derivates.Synthetic routes have been used to obtain series of hybrid monomers, their structure and purity being checked by NMR Spectroscopy and Fourier Transform Infrared ...

Ormosil coatings of high hardness

Journal of Materials Science, 1995
Organically modified silicates (ormosils) of two systems were coated on polyethyleneterephthalate (PET) substrates. One was the tetraethoxysilane (TEOS)-vinyltriethoxysilane (VTES) system and the other was the TEOS-tetraisopropyltitanate (TIPT)-VTES system. The reactions among the alkoxides were examined by liquid state 29Si nuclear magnetic resonance (

Viscosity and structure of Ormosil solutions

Journal of Sol-gel Science and Technology, 1995
PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane)/TEOS (tetraethoxysilane) system Ormosils (organically modified silicates) can be rubbery or rigid, depending on their chemical composition and processing conditions. In order to determine the relationship between the viscosity and the structure of the Ormosil solutions through the sol-to-gel transition, five kinds of sols ...
