Thermal Stability Enhancement Of Rubbery Ormosils

MRS Proceedings, 1994
ABSTRACTThermal stability of a novel rubbery ORMOSIL of condensed tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) was investigated along with methods by which to improve this stability. Based upon literature review of siloxane systems, modifications of the base ORMOSIL ...

Microstructural and Mechanical Properties of Sono-Ormosils

Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology, 1998
Monolithic pieces and films of ormosils were obtained from ultrasound-assisted polycondensation of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). These sono-Ormosils were studied by means of high resolution Brillouin spectroscopy and their textures analyzed from adsorption isotherms.

Characteristics of dye-doped ormosil lasers

SPIE Proceedings, 1994
New hybrid organic-inorganic materials synthesized at room temperature and doped with laser dyes have been tested for laser action. The new ormosil material has excellent optical properties and is an effective host for many organic molecules.

ORMOSIL-entrapped copper complex as electrocatalyst for the heterogeneous de-chlorination of alkyl halides

, 2020
The development of an efficient method for the de-halogenation of alkyl halides is an essential step towards the elimination of these pollutants from the environment.

Structures, Properties and Potential Applications of Ormosils

Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology, 1998
Ormosils are organic-inorganic hybrid solids in which the organic component may be chemically bonded to a silica matrix. Somewhat similar to inorganic silicate glasses, the structure of the silica network can be modified by the presence of organic groups.

The Role of Fe in the Thermal Stabilization of Ormosils

Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology, 2003
The thermal stability of organically modified silicates (Ormosils) is limited by that of their organic constituent. In the case of the polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)-silica hybrids, degradation of the PDMS begins around 250°C, which restricts their range of applications.

Hard ormosils prepared with ultrasonic irradiation

Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology, 1995
Organically modified silicates (ormosils) of high hardness were prepared by the reaction of TEOS (tetraethoxysilane) and PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) aided by ultrasonic irradiation, which was chosen as the method for concentration of the solutions. The mechanisms leading to the hard ormosil formation were examined by liquid state 29Si NMR spectroscopy.

Epoxy modified with urea-based ORMOSIL and isocyanate-functionalized polybutadiene: Viscoelastic and adhesion properties

Composites Part B: Engineering, 2019
Epoxy networks present good adhesion properties but are brittle in nature due to the high crosslink degree. The modification with silica particles and rubber can be a useful approach for improving adhesion properties without affecting the thermal ...

Thin ORMOSIL Films with Different Organics

Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology, 1998
Structural, optical and electrical properties of silicate films modified by structure fragments containing different organic groups were studied. The ORMOSILs were produced by a cohydrolysis of tetraethoxysilane with different types of alkyl (aryl) substituted alkoxysilanes.

Preparation of Metal-Cluster-Ormosil Nanocomposites

MRS Proceedings, 1992
ABSTRACTA series of metal-cluster-organically modified silicate, or Ormosil, nanocomposites were prepared by the sol-gel method. Each of the metals (Ag, Au, Cu, and Pt), was incorporated individually into the Ormosil matrices at various weight percents by reduction of the appropriate metal salt. The preparation for these metal-cluster doped-Ormosils is
