Mulches in Ornamental Plantings

open access: yesHortScience, 1988
Abstract It was appropriate that, in the June 1988 issue of HortScience, Post (1988) reports on the relationships between extension personnel and private consultants and Robinson (1988) reports on the uses of mulches on ornamental plantings, a topic about which recommendations are frequently made for the multitude of professional landscape caretakers ...

Beyond the Edge: Charge‐Transfer Excitons in Organic Donor‐Acceptor Cocrystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Complex excitonic landscapes in acene–perfluoroacene cocrystals are unveiled by polarization‐resolved optical spectroscopy and many‐body theory. This systematic study of a prototypical model system for weakly interacting donor–acceptor compounds challenges common views of charge‐transfer excitons, providing a refined conceptual framework for ...

4D‐Printed Magneto‐Plasmonic Microrobots for Programmable Spatiotemporal De‐Icing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 4D‐printing strategy is introduced to achieve programmable de‐icing devices. By aligning gold–magnetite nanofillers within a photosensitive resin, the printed structures exhibit dual magnetic and plasmonic functionalities, enabling precise spatio‐temporal ice removal through thermoplasmonic effects.

Mechanochromism of Glassy Polymers Enabled by a Loop‐Forming Supramolecular Mechanophore

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The supramolecular mechanophore LOOP is covalently introduced into glassy polymers, capable of reporting force‐induced pre‐failure damage and local fracture events in polymer glasses. Under different mechanical deformation modes, including grinding, tensile stretching, and scratching, LOOP probes irreversible events in polymer glasses through a ...

Costs of Producing Field Ornamental Trees in Ohio [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The objective of this study was to determine annual production costs for field-grown ornamental trees in Ohio in firms of two sizes. This objective was accomplished by synthesizing two model field nurseries using an economic engineering approach.
